Reviews of May & Smith Funeral Directors
"Super disappointed. I would go anywhere else. We felt rushed. One guy that worked there was on his phone under the tent sitting down with my aunt in the heat telling people bye IMMEDIATELY after the service. When I called to bring this to their attention at the funeral home the frist guy was extremely nice but then the preacher man called back and essentially called me a liar and said that he didn't ask us to move from under the tent which he did. Then said it was "covid-19 practices". Excuse me " please make your way outside to make space" was his exact words. In 92° weather. He then said without a picture of the boy on his phone how did I know he did it? THEN hangs up on me. This was my uncles funeral. It may just be a paycheck for y'all but this was a piece of my family gone. You would be upset as well. Shame on your staff."
"My son passed in 2016. Mr mays met me at my childs grandparents home. I told him repeatedly until i spoke to my sons father i wasnt sure if or what we were doing. I asked to see my son ge told me to go talk to his father and then he should have him ready. I traveled an hour away. We talked and decided cremation. I then went to the funeral home to be told he would have to be embalmed before i could see him. To come back the next day and he would be ready. I lived 2 hours away. I found out later on that the paternal grandparents were allowed to see my child before me. The next day myself my father and my sister go to the funeral home. Mr mays lets me back to see him. Then he proceeds to tell me the details of my childs suicide. That at any point in time my child could of stood and and stopped all of this nonsense. I was stunned already in shock and that just simply shook me to my core. Mr mays doesn’t do cremation and the funeral hone that i went with went to puck up my child and was refused because there was an 800 balance for an embalming that i never consented too. We payed the money and my son was released.. i pray no one ever has to go through the rudeness of this man."
"Mr EK and the entire staff went above and beyond what was required or expected in dealing with us during the loss of our son. The compassion and concern from the first moment until months later when setting up the Ledger and plot was first class in every way. I cannot give a high enough review here to show how Karen and I feel about these fine folks."
"Jeffrey with Mae and Smith Funeral Home recently handled the cremation of my mother. I found him and the entire funeral home staff very accessible, caring, and knowledgeable. I was making her arrangements out of town and he gave me his personal cell phone to contact him if I needed any assistance. I highly recommend their service."
"Terry Lord....Thank you so much for the compassion and kindness you showed me during the loss of my son Zachary"
