Abbott Marshlands: Bordentown Bluffs Bordentown, NJ 08505
About the Business
Welcome to Abbott Marshlands: Bordentown Bluffs, a serene and captivating park and tourist attraction located in Bordentown, New Jersey, 08505, United States. Nestled within Lenapehoking, the traditional and ancestral homeland of the Lenape, we honor and respect the Lenape people, acknowledging their past, present, and future, along with their enduring cultural heritage and connection to this sacred land.
Spanning over 3,000 acres of diverse habitats, the Abbott Marshlands are an ecological treasure adjacent to the Delaware River, situated between Trenton and Bordentown. Here, you will find freshwater tidal and non-tidal marshes, swamps, ponds, and woodlands that serve as a sanctuary for a wide variety of plant and animal species. The marshlands offer endless opportunities for nature study, recreation, and quiet reflection, with trails for hiking and biking, as well as picnic areas for families and friends to enjoy.
Named after the Abbott Farm National Historical Landmark, this area holds historical significance as one of the most important archaeological sites on the East Coast, brought to prominence by Charles Conrad Abbott in the late 19th century. As a writer, naturalist, and amateur archaeologist, Abbott's exploration and writings highlighted the rich history embedded within these lands.
The Friends for the Abbott Marshlands are dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our organization. We believe in providing access to the marshlands for all individuals, irrespective of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. Our commitment is to create a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for everyone in our community, celebrating the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that strengthen our collective understanding and protection of this natural wonder.
Join us for the Trenton Community A-Team exhibit, Nature’s Echoes, opening on September 8th, as we celebrate the beauty and inspiration drawn from the marshlands. Additionally, we honor the legacy of Charlie Leck, whose significant contributions to the marsh continue to resonate, supported by a generous donation from his wife, Mary Leck.
Visit Abbott Marshlands: Bordentown Bluffs to embark on a journey of discovery, appreciation, and connection with nature. Whether you are exploring our trails, participating in marsh advocacy, or simply enjoying the serene surroundings, we welcome you to be part of our vibrant community dedicated to preserving and cherishing this extraordinary landscape.

Reviews
"The first viewing point is nice, and the woods are in good shape. However, the trail was completely washed out about halfway up going north, and couldnt even be close to completed. Not sure what's up. Parking area is also just curbside and a little shady."
"these pictures are on the trail by tulpahacken nature center in Hamilton. there used to be an old amusement park here this is one of the parts still remaining of it along the trails"
"What an amazing place for enjoying nature, seeing birds and Delaware river."
"Beautiful place to live next door to."
"Best views I’ve seen at a park in Mercer county! The trail leads you to a beautiful cliff where you can see the river and the marshes all the way towards Roebling Park. And after you walk the whole trail it leads you to Orchard Ave and I like to cut over into the lawn of the Bordentown Creamery and get some ice cream before I head back to my car."
