Reviews of Chameleon Creations Hair Studio
"I was a returning customer, but I won’t be going again. I went in for a color rinse, trim and press /curl on my kinda long, thick natural hair. Crystal didn’t consult with me about anything until styling at the very end. The brown dye didn’t cover my gray roots (I thought she was going to match my hair color). The trim was not sufficient (I was not asked how much I wanted to take off and my hair is reverting and I can now see the scraggly ends). I was burned twice and at one point I looked up and out the corner of my eye and saw her watching tv as she passed the flat iron. She only conversed with the regulars in the store or was on the phone. She didn’t talk to me at all, not even about the condition of my hair or offer any advice or instructions about how to care for it (which I would have paid more to know). I did get the style I asked for and my hair was cute but this experience reminded me of why I don’t like the salon. I am not a regular salon user anywhere. I’ve been to others over the years and this was a typical experience. I kept coming back to Chameleons because initially I felt valued. I can see now that I am not. If I tip $5 on a $70 service, it’s not because I can’t afford more, just saying."
"This is a cute black-owned shop and I liked how my hair turned out. I only go to hair salons every few months to get a trim and press. I researched a few hair salons in my area and I decided on this shop. I booked thru the shops website for 1pm appointment for a wash and trim. The website said that the services should take about 1hour and 20mins. I arrived on time and was greeted by Destiny. She already had someone in her chair when I arrived and I knew I would be waiting a while before I would be serviced. 40 mins goes by and she finally is finished with the person in her chair. Then she instructs someone else who was waiting to sit in the chair. At that point I asked to reschedule because I had other things I needed to do for the day and my appointment was at 1pm and at 1:40pm I still was not seen. When I asked to reschedule the first thing Destiny asked me is “How long did you plan you appointment for?” I did not understand the question so I asked her to repeat and she says “How long did you plan your appointment for? Because you have a 1pm appointment and it’s 1:30 (even tho the time really was 1:40pm) None of this made sense to me because I scheduled a 1pm appointment and the service only takes about 1hour and 20 mins and I waited 40 mins without even being washed or blow dried, in fact the shampoo girl was scrolling through her phone the entire time I was there, so now I’m wondering why wasn’t I washed and blow dried while I was waiting for 40 mins. Anyways I chose not to express frustration for waiting 40 mins and just asked to reschedule. I started to say forget the service all together but I paid a deposit when I booked, so I did go back about an hour later when she was ready for me. My issue with this shop is the lack of accountability. It was obvious as soon as I walked in that my stylist overbooked herself and instead of taking accountability for that she chose to deflect the situation as if I should have known that I would be waiting 40 mins after my start time to get my hair done. If I schedule a 1pm appointment I expect to at least have my hair wash and blow dried within the first 10-20mins of my arrival. I do recommend this shop but make sure you give yourself 2-3hrs of extra time because you may be waiting about an hour for your services to start."
"Make a appointment with destiny. She's professional and neat with the loc maintenance. This shop is the #1 loc spot on 5th st in olney area. They have a barber and weave stylist too. The owner does amazing hair as well. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
"Crystal took care of my little princess! Braids were fast and very neat and beautiful. Salon always clean. Well return and refer people as well. Prices reasonable!"
"I Went to them back in March for a wedding and it was my first time getting my hair done by anyone and my first time at a shop. I had my hair washed, blowed dried, trimmed, and pressed and I looked AMAZING ! Sadly it rained that day but they were nice enough to wrap my hair up and gave me a scarf to cover my head. Overall my experience was great and even though it’s small, it felt cozy and warm. I will definitely be back."
