"The rental car had a cigarette smell, but not so bad that I couldn't deal with it. The car itself was nice and my experience at the counter was pleasant (more so when I returned the car that when I picked up)."
"No one was available to show me any features on the car, I didn't know how to start it, I drive a older car 2014. The person at the counter said he couldn't leave the counter. He told me that he would cancel the reservation if I wanted. His personal phone call was more important than being their for the customer. I will never use Avis again Crossing the street to pick up the car is unsafe. The homeless shelter is a half block away. People sleep in the building where you have to pick up the car no security. I think it's dangerous."
"**Update (09/121/23)* As promised, I am coming back to advise that the offered refund was received. Unfortunately, although I did in fact follow-up almost immediately as requested by 'Angela', Avis has failed to respond as of this update. Not sure what they were planning on - if anything - (or if it was just a PR move to make it seem as if they in fact did care about their reputation), but their failure to respond seems to apropos. ======= Rental started on July 18th, by the 25th, I had switched the vehicle out FIVE times because of maintenance issues, (i.e., low oil, engine needed to be serviced, rough idle, low tire pressure, etc.) The last two (2) times, I had to drive over 45 minutes away to PHL to switch vehicles. At that point, was advised by a crew member that due to how big [Avis is], they do send out vehicles with maintenance issues from time-to-time, but they just have customers switch the vehicles out. To me, that makes no sense. Why not ensure that the vehicles are properly maintained and provide your customers with safe/reliable vehicles? The only saving grace was the promised refund of 1/2 the rental, (which I am STILL waiting on.) Will update if the promised refund is not received. In the meantime, I will NOT rent from AVIS (not just this location), again."
"I returned the car by 5:45pm and it was due by 6pm. I was well within the return period, however the agent never bothered to check in the car in the system. Avis saw the rental as unreturned and started charging my credit card for hundreds of dollars in overdue fees, all because the agent didn't bother to flag the car as returned. It took me several days of calling customer service to get the money refunded and the issue cleared up. Unacceptable, I won't use Avis in the future. The rental car itself was fine."
"The rental car received when originally picked up was filthy. There is no way this car was cleaned inside or out and I truly don’t believe anyone there really cared. Trash in console, stained seats and dirty carpet throughout, windows so filthy wiper fluid won’t get them clean, and all tire caps missing with low tire pressure. Had to extend it and even showed pictures but no one has done anything to make it right. For what I paid for these 2 months, someone should have done something. I will never rent from here again..didn’t have much choice as I was in a jam. Worst rental experience ever; I’ve never received a rental in this condition."
