"The three main viewing points were great. This is the last week in Oct so the colors were good with a lot of leaves already falling. The hike was pretty intense. And I unfortunately wasn't prepared. Bring plenty of water people! I think most people could make it to the first real vista fine. It's about a mile in (40°58'06.7"N 75°08'05.6"W). This is where I planned to turn around. I ended up going to the top. I'm a big guy and it was brutal for me. The trail is pretty rocky throughout. The last mile will challenge you. It's about a 2 mile trek to the top. For the most part I thought the trail was pretty well marked. I know a previous reviewer said there were poor markings but there may have been 1 or 2 spots I had to make sure I was good, otherwise I thought it was ok. On the way down I thought it would be easier to take the "road" down. I thought it would be as nice as it started like the 2nd picture. Not so much. It was rocky all the way down. And the leaves were falling so I had to be that much more careful not to slip or step at a bad angle. And according to google, it looks to be about 3/4 of a mile longer. So it may not have been my best choice. With all this said, there were folks of all ages walking the trail. I went to the top because a 73 year old super man made it look easy. He was awesome, as was his cousin. So if you've been hiking already you would probably do this in half the time I did. If you haven't been hiking, you may be better off turning around at the first view I have pictured. Either way, you will get a great view. And with the colors changing, it really was beautiful."
"Great Hike, but terrible and almost nonexistent signs. There’s two parking area next to each other, but get early there before 9am especially in season. I was lucky enough by arriving late that a couple were just about leave and I got a spot at 10:30am, in the first lot. Last year, I was there at 8:30am and had no issues getting a spot. You can use Google maps/ offline Google maps, plenty of area with reception along the way. After passing the lake on the right, shortly after is a passage on the left that brings you up in shorter, steeper and scenic route, with several lookouts, creeks along the way. That route will connect back 2/3 up. Wider and longer path is just a steady rocky up. I used my mid hiking boots, I prefer hiking in. I came across of ppl with sports shoes, but it is very rocky. You might think you are at the top but if you are just seeing the mountain across the valley, that’s not the top. The top has a view over the river and opened valley. See pictures below. Enjoy your hiking!"
"Great scenic hike! Was here early on in the spring and back again in August. Very different landscape both times. There's a lot of stooping, climbing, uneven terrain and creek crossing. Might be challenging for beginner hikers or hikers with small children. I did 5 miles. The waterfall at the end was a great reward. Though in August it had been reduced to a trickle due to extreme drought and the canopy of rhododendrons looked pretty sad and dehydrated. Parking can be an issue on weekends unless arriving early in the morning."
