Reviews
"Great hike! Little bit of everything (single track, double track, paved, gravel, fire road). I went out and back an hour and a half, total 6 miles. 3 miles from the lot is a radio antenna with great views and there are small waterfalls and vistas along the way."
"There are two small lots and the first one was just about full when I arrived on a Wednesday morning around 9AM. There are no restrooms, so be sure to stop somewhere before you park. The loop (going up the Appalachian Trail and down Lake Road) was ok. Like another reviewer mentioned, you don’t need to go all the way to the summit if you’re only in it for the views. The lookout point on the Appalachian Trail side had the best views of the trail (called Council Rock); the summit’s view is mostly obstructed by trees. But, the trail itself is mostly covered by trees too so they provide nice shade from the sun and protection from unexpected rain. Overall, I think this is a great hike for beginners. My tracker said it came in around 5 miles total and just over 1,000 feet of elevation gained. I was a bit winded after Council Rock even though I hike several times a week, but the rest of the hike is very easy."
"Parking is a pain in the butt but that’s typical for these types of places. Once parked, the hike we did was an easy 4.8 mile loop with only ~1000ft of elevation. Good for inexperienced hikers, or very trail runner friendly. Trail was moderately busy on Memorial Day weekend. We enjoyed ourselves."
"Hiking up the mount minski is good but the views at the top are overrated. Hike up and take the left trail, which is steep but this will lead to a nice overlook of Delaware River Water Gap. I have uploaded the pic. However, from this overlook to the top is a difficult hike. The view is obstructed (see pic). If you love to hike then go for it, but if you are only there to see the view then just turn back from the overlook. Go clock wise, the steep hike is surrounded by nice views and small running springs, keeps you excited and involved. Coming down take the less steeper road which is 0.4 mile more than the other one. It is around 4.5 miles round trip and we did it all in 2.5 hours. 1.5 hours to go up and 1 hour to come down. Note: The parking lot is very small but the parking on the main street (down the road) is free."
"Very small parking lot. Plan to get there early between 8:00-9:00am to find a spot. The trail is nice, pretty well marked for the most part. Moderate hike with great views of the Delaware Water Gap."
