RAMIZ MEDITERRANEAN TURKISH GRILL PHILADELPHIA

"We are Heading to Turkey in October with friends and we wanted a nice Turkish dinner experience in advance. We went to RAMIZ (the restaurant is ground level with a 2 nd floor lounge with various entertainment) at 216 South street. We had an absolutely excellent dinner. Years ago we went to a prior neighborhood restaurant owned by Sal on nearby Passyunk - we loved it but it closed. Late last year Sal opened RAMIZ and it is CLASSY. Very nice first impressions….. lovely rustic brick walls, beautiful flooring (gleams like marble), some atmospheric lighting, and white linen tables or booths for your seating. We were a party of four on a quiet evening. Sal himself took care of us. We were there early and some of us did order off the Early Bird Special menu (til 6/on weekdays). The menu has photos and good descriptions to help you choose. The appetizers we chose of baba ganoush and hummus were perfect, with lots of accompanying hot grilled pita bread. I knew in advance I would order the ISKENDAR, my favorite from Sal’s prior restaurant. Lots of lamb over buttered small breads, topped with heaping wonderful red sauce and a large side of very light whipped yogurt!! I wonder if I will ever order any other dish for my already anticipated return visits. I ate every bit and Sal joked I was helping with the dish washing. My hubby’s lamb kebab over rice was also excellent. One in our group ordered a shrimp and tomato salad with feta that was HUGE! A 2nd Iskender completed our order. Delicious baklava to end the meal, with a cup of hot apple tea (so typical to be presented with that in Turkey when you enter many shops) and a shot of Raki as Sal told us we would almost always be offered when ordering fish on our upcoming Turkey trip. I dont do many restaurant reviews but RAMIZ (a name well known throughout Turkey) is the real deal. Lovely facility, excellent, authentic food, and an owner who CARES!"

"Me and my friends visited this location today. We loved the Adana Kebab andRamiz Specials Kofta. It’s was absolutely delicious. Our server Adnan was so kindly answering questions. I highly recommend to taste their hummus. It was an amazing. Definitely, I will come back again."

"I ordered from UberEats.The food is very delicious and we enjoyed a lot but the baklava did not meet our expectations for two reasons: First, it is softer than typical ones (I guess it is because of how its sugar syrup added because it is even like wet). Secondly, we were expecting to have same shape (squares) as shown in the app but the one that came was roll baklava."

"Spectacular cuisine! We really enjoyed every dish, from salad to dessert. I had the meatball trio plate and it was phenomenal. My wife had the chicken and she is still raving about it. The staff is top notch! I highly recommend stopping here for a meal (or two)."
