"We enrolled our daughter in the summer mini camp here, and she had a wonderful experience. She learned a great deal within the week, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We have since enrolled her in the weekly classes."
"My daughter just finished “Fit for fashion” camp with JoAnn and absolutely loved it! My daughter has never touched a sewing machine before this week and it’s amazing how many pieces she made in just four days. I highly recommend Just Make it Sew!"
"Joanne and her crew are very warm and welcoming. They are patient with beginners, working at your pace. They will help you with any project you want to undertake, no matter the difficulty and adjust to level of help and pace as needed. Having no experience when we first started, my daughter (8 at the time) and I expected our first lesson to be about threading and learning to sew straight, but we left with 2 fabulous tote bags! I would highly recommend this woman owned small business."
"I had high hopes for learning sewing through Joann's classes, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. Instead of receiving sewing lessons, we focused solely on a skirt project that wasn't completed after five classes. It's disappointing that I'm now being asked to purchase two more classes to finish it, costing over $200 in total. When I started, I was told there would be more variety in what we'd create. While Joann is a great person, this wasn't the sewing experience I had hoped for. Now I'm left with an unfinished $25 skirt due to the additional costs for completion."
"Your “one last word” on your website about summer camp was pointed out to me by a family member. Very disappointed in your lack of inclusivity and ignorance. My young cousin has autism and is very excited about sewing and has been thriving in sewing lessons. It is up to the parent to decide what is “too much” and if they can handle it. Every child with learning disabilities is completely different. Not every one needs individual attention. Not every one is disruptive or demanding. Making an assumption about any of this is discriminatory and ignorant. If there was an issue in class and then it was brought to the attention of the parent and there was a discussion on how to proceed from there, that would be entirely different. But not giving them a chance first and making assumptions on pre-conceived, unsupported, uninformed ideas is poor personal and business conduction. Extremely disappointing. As an artist myself, I would never assume someone was incapable of anything before an attempt to perform. ANYONE deserves the chance to create art. Refusing instruction because YOU decided they were “too much” before even getting to know them is lazy and completely discriminatory. Continuing to run your business this way will surely result in future discriminatory law suits. So sad to see a local business so closed-minded and misinformed."
