"After 7 years of business in good standing and with no attempt to contact me through mail, email, or phone US Bank removed $924 from my joint account with my wife 2 days before rent was due at 4pm on a Friday night to pay for a negative balance on an account closed in June 2021. An account that I had no access to on online banking and had received no statements for either emailed or in paper from June 2021 to March 2024. Upon further investigation I found that between February 2021 and June 2021 US Bank charged my college debit account $1150 in overdraft and returned payment fees, $36 for each overdraft and $36 dollars for each returned payment totaling $72 per transaction. All of these charges were caused by 3 $4.99 transactions attempting to overdraft my closed account and being returned 16 times in total. After calling 3 different departments and losing sleep for nearly a week trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it I was told that because the account was closed in 2021 no changes could be made, no overdraft or returned payments could be forgiven, and that I was responsible for paying the full amount. I agreed to a settlement to pay $424 in addition to over $150 dollars paid in 2021 to attempt cover these fees. While the initial fault was mine, at no point has US Bank's conduct or customer service been satisfactory. At no point was communication with US Bank easy or quick. At no point was anyone I spoke with sympathetic, understanding, or willing to provide aid. At no point did I feel like a valued customer. I have closed all accounts with US Bank and will not be doing business with any US Bank branch or location ever again, and I strongly suggest that you Dear Reader, follow suit."
"The most unbelievably horrible service. I've been with US Bank for well over 25 years. Never once had any overdrafts, bounced checks or anything. My wife and I bought a new car and wrote a check for it on a Saturday. I told the dealership that I had to move some money around and they said they wouldn't deposit the check until Tuesday. So Monday morning I went to my credit union and took out money from my account to deposit into my US Bank checking account to cover the check I wrote for the car. It was a large amount so the credit union gave me the funds in the form of a check. I took it to US Bank and they deposited it and gave me a receipt showing my balance was a little over $29,000. The check I wrote for the car was $28,000 so all should be good, right? Wrong!! Without telling me, US Bank decided to put a 7 business day hold on the funds I deposited!! So in the mean time the $28,000 check I wrote for the car was returned!! US Bank caused me to bounce a $28,000 check and all they had to say was we understand the inconvenience and they aren't able to release the funds until after the hold expires. If there was an issue, why couldn't they just call the credit union, who's phone number is right on the check, and just verify it's legitimate?? This was the worse banking experience I have ever had and I assure you that it will be the last time that US Bank will ever handle a dime of my money!!"
"Had a man named Jacob help me the other day in the drive through. I had him help me a month or so earlier inside. He was very helpful and pleasant both times and I hope to have him help me again in the future."
"This is hands down the worst bank I have ever been associated with, I tried to use the ATM on Saturday and it ate my card in 2 seconds and had a pop-up "out of order." When I called customer service they said I would have to wait till Monday to have a new card issued. I have to go all weekend without any cash and be put through the hassle of getting a new card issued. That's right I said issued so I'm out of my card for another 5-10 days. So basically they just stole my card"
