"I’ve had a car loan with them coming up on two years. In that time I have had questions, and a couple situations to figure out. Three times I’ve been on the phone with them and every time has been excellent! The answers, the emails and related documents have all come while we are still on the phone. Calling a bank is not something you do for fun, but they have been so efficient, informative and just plain nice it has brightened my day!"
"I’ve had an account with IHMVCU my entire life. Had 3 auto loans with them and paid 2 of them off early, one was 55k and I was the primary on this loan. I’ve never been late for a payment or in delinquent status ever. I have a credit score in upper 700s. I tried to get another auto loan from them this week as my current vehicle is no longer safe. I had $2500 deposit given to the car dealership to hold for me as down payment on top of this. The woman who called me regarding my loan request at IH named Rachel was incredibly rude and condescending. She continuously told me that my debt to income ratio is way off and they will not give me a loan because of my mortgage. I informed her the mortgage was signed over to my partner as he makes a lot more than I do and this was affecting my ability to get loans. They asked for proof of this so I sent them a copy of me signing away my rights to the deed meaning I am no longer responsible. This was notarized and signed by an attorney. They said this was not good enough because it was not proof of being off the actual mortgage. Rachel insisted that form was not good enough. I then told her I would try to get that form from my attorney and asked if I was not able to get it then could she tell me what I needed to do to be approved such as more money down or if they could counter because I wanted to try to get things moving sooner rather than later. She told me she isn’t the underwriter, that is not her job and all she could do for me was estimate but she chose not to give me any advice at all. I then said that it made no sense that they were denying me on this sole reason of debt to income when I have good credit, perfect payment history, etc and she said they do look at everything. I asked then why was I being told that I wouldn’t get approved without a co-signer if I did not provide proof of being off the mortgage. She came off as very classist and stated unless I have more income to provide I wouldn’t be approved alone. She began speaking to me as if I didn’t have comprehension skills when she would beat around my direct questions then told me she didn’t feel comfortable answering my questions about the approval of my loan(which if that’s the case then why is this person contacting me?). I could tell she was getting frustrated with me and then abruptly tried to end the call stating that she would send my info to the underwriter to see if it’ll be approved or not even though I had already told her I was going to try to provide these forms. I stopped her at that time saying that I’d still like to try to get this form if possible and to hold off. Well, the dealership sent my loan through another bank who auto approved me and rated me as “platinum.” They did not require pay stubs, credit check or any of the asinine requests IH had insisted on. Needless to say, I will never try to get a loan from IH again. Don’t waste your time, they do not value or try to help their members in the slightest and it was a very disappointing experience. No matter what you make or how much money you have, you should not be treated poorly by others."
"Horrible customer service if you ever get to speak to anyone. If you want to update or change the payment method of a loan payment.... good luck. You'd be further ahead to bounce your head off the pavement. That process is complicated for no reason and if you need help, the customer service people will talk to you in a condescending tone. Tried calling today since they messed up on an auto payment. No one to answer after 8 minutes on hold. Want to call the credit union headquarters to complain..... that won't happen. Same number their lousy customer service is located. Avoid this credit union. There are better ones to spend your hard earned money at. 11/21/23 - Regarding their response, I finally got a call back nearly 4 hours later. Come to find out, they use a third party to handle loan payments. While the rep that talked to me was helpful and empathetic, the fact that they use another company shows where the problem lies. 40 years of banking and every bank I've ever used does their own processing. The money they spend on this other company to do something they could do, could be used to lower loan rates for customers such as myself and help us out."
"Credit union continues to disappoint, I wouldn’t advise anyone to bank with them nor work for them. They aren’t a family oriented work place they once used to be. They treat their employees very poorly and only pick and choose which ones they will fight for and keep, they’ve let go a lot of good employees for very petty reasons. Management and supervision has very poor work ethics, they gather outside of work to speak ill of their employees and then to their favorite employees they go back to give them personal information about other employees. This place needs a good clean up starting with the higher up’s"
"I recently had my car stolen and identity compromised. Called to speak with someone to help me pause a month for payment so I could have my insurance process things and set up payment for the rest of what I owe. The senior financial solutions specialist was incredibly rude and condescending. She showed no empathy for my situation and her solution was for me to pay a little more per month after I had told her I couldn’t afford to at the moment (my apr is already 14.5% as I had no credit 5 years ago). She spoke down to me like I was less of a person because I didn’t have more money to pay. I’ve had interaction with her in the past and she was equally as rude. Instead of helping out a member of 15plus years she repeatedly reported me to the credit bureaus and dropped my credit score by at least 50 points. Effectively making it impossible to refinance my loan elsewhere. I went online and found on my own a payment relief request form. It’s clear to me this establishment only cares about money and not people. I’ve spoken with many other lenders who have stopped payment for 2-3 months in situations like this by just adding them to the end of a loan installment. It’s obscene to me that I was never offered any help like this if it is available. This is not the only unprofessional experience I’ve had with IHMVCU. I plan on closing out my account as soon as I can. I have been in customer service for 25 years and am appalled by how employees here treat people. SMH."
