Welcome to the Blaisdell Family National Association (BFNA) Official Genealogy Website, located at 729 Fieldview Drive, Smithton, Illinois. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and a dedicated library, we proudly serve as the custodian of the rich history and genealogy of the Blaisdell family. Since our founding on August 15, 1935, we have been committed to preserving the legacy of Ralf Bleasdale and his descendants.
Our library offers a wealth of resources, including the Blaisdell Papers, the fifth oldest family publication in the United States, published biannually since 1935. This publication is a crucial tool for documenting the genealogy, vital statistics, and vibrant stories of the Blaisdell family. Members receive this publication as part of their membership, with dues set at $25 annually. We also offer gift memberships and a DVD compilation of past publications for those interested in delving deeper into our shared history.
The BFNA is a member-driven organization, and we rely on your contributions of family stories, events, and milestones to keep our records alive and relevant. We encourage all members to submit updates to our Genealogist and Vital Statistics Editor, ensuring the accuracy and richness of our archives.
Our community gathers for annual or biennial regional reunions across Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. Every five years, we host a national reunion, alternating between regional locations and Pemaquid, Maine, where Ralf Bleasdale first landed in 1635. Our next grand reunion is scheduled for July 17-20, 2025, in Maine, where we will also unveil the newly restored Pemaquid Point plaque, thanks to the generous donations from our community.
In collaboration with historical and maritime groups, the BFNA is actively involved in projects such as the recovery of The Angel Gabriel and the preservation of Blaisdell artifacts with the Maine Historical Society. We extend our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to these efforts.
