"We arrived and found a parking spot. Went in to be serviced and was told that they were sorry, but they we closing. When asked why, she stated it looked like RAIN, and they( I assumed the rest of the employee's) can choose the close of a work day based on inclement weather. She then walked out with me and got into her DST license plated car."
"I set in both of my childrens classroom to figure out why I have to teach my kids things hands on and what can be the problem of doing certain subjects in class. Getting on IPADS is a big no because how the kids going to learn by just watching things instead of taking the time out to introduce the subject to the kids. There's no way they should learn by writing and doing more hands on instead of electronics that's going to make things worst for the parents as well as the teachers. They need hands on learning and more writing ipads is not the way to go. Don't know why even it got started"
"Being a SLPS GRADUATE I had more faith in my teachers and administrators growing up than my child has. My child attended Washington Montessori and will never attend again because she has experienced constantly bullying from numerous student in her class boys especially ans her teacher did nothing about it. My 8 year old daughter was punched in the chest by a little boy in her classroom intentionally and I never received notice from any school staff (not the teacher, principal) no one at all regarding this incident. They really do not care. The teacher never reported this incident and its upsetting very upsetting to know that my child is not safe at school and incidents like this one will happen and my child is under a tremendous amount of stress. The school system has failed my child and may be failing other kids this is very upsetting. No one seems to care about anything anymore."
"They have really lost their touch. As a graduate from SLPS and now a parent of a student in the district, I have grown to become very disappointed in the district. Our students are being left behind, teachers take off more days than they work. Parents have to sign up for announcements and alerts because the district doesn’t even try and communicate with parents. Now schools are closing because enrollment is down. Enrollment is down because they are just not caring for our students and parents have to seek other services."
"Our family has had an excellent experience in the schools and know hundreds of other families who feel the same way. It is true that it's an embattled district that has its problems and some children and families are not getting what they need. The level of dedication among staff and teachers is unparalleled and inspiring. I wish that our region recognized how critical excellent city schools are to the success of our whole region and also I wish that our citizenry and city government would give the schools more whole-hearted backing, it is amazing what the system does in spite of the persistent negative bias in our local press. They deserve much more praise and support for all that they accomplish!"
