Webster Groves Public Library
About the Business
Welcome to the Webster Groves Public Library, your community hub for knowledge, culture, and connection. Located at 301 East Lockwood Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, our library offers a wide range of programs and services designed to enrich the lives of residents of all ages.
Join us for our unique "Dogs for Our Brave" program, where children aged 5 and up can read to service dogs in training. This heartwarming initiative not only helps young readers improve their skills but also supports the mission of providing professionally trained service dogs to veterans at no cost.
We are proud to host Lindy Drew, co-founder of Humans of St. Louis, as she presents their inspiring work in documenting the stories of our community.
Our library also grants free access to ConsumerReports.org, a valuable tool for making informed purchasing decisions. Plus, young readers can embark on the "1000 Books Before Kindergarten" journey, earning a free book and a stuffed reading buddy along the way.
For our older residents, we are committed to supporting their desire to "age in place" within our cherished community. As a designated SAFE PLACE site, we offer immediate help and safety for youth in need.
Families with young children can enjoy our Story & Activity Time, ideal for ages 2 and up, in our vibrant children's department. We also invite teens and adults to join us for game nights, where snacks and fun are on the menu.
History enthusiasts will appreciate our Webster Groves Historical Archive and the Kate Moody Collection. These ongoing projects aim to preserve and share the rich history of Webster Groves.
For over four decades, the Friends of the Webster Groves Public Library have been instrumental in enhancing our library experience. Discover how you can contribute to this legacy on our Friends page.
Visit us Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. For assistance, call our main desk at 314.961.3784, our children's desk at 314.961.7262, or our reference desk at 314.961.7277.

"There are many great things about this library - we especially love the craft bags they leave by the door, the children’s section, and Ms. Margaret. Just a special place to be."
"Great library! Me and the kids love going here and everyone is super helpful! There's also a lot of out of the box things you can check out besides books like fishing poles and garden seeds. Fantastic part of the community!"
"A small town library is what you might expect for Webster groves, but prepare to be amazed. The 2nd floor is home to the children's section that's full of books and computers staffed with knowledgeable fun loving librarians. A large main level has young adult and up books from fanasty to fiction. Need reference or biography, travel downstairs and a librarian will set you up right. Need a computer, the basement is the place to be. For a small town library, it sure is big. The best part, is the small town hospitality happy to help. Stop in if your in the area, find out for yourself."
"Excellent library that has NOT been gutted like the St. Louis County library system has. There are plenty of recently published books, but they have also KEPT books from other decades, as is the actual purpose of a library. Many people will appreciate their borrowing policies which include automatic renewals and a long borrowing period. (Clearly they are not making their money on book fines.) It's also a pleasant, quiet place to read and study. Although it's not the biggest library, it might have one of the biggest book collections in St. Louis at this point."
"Good selection, helpful staff. Surprisingly excellent comic section. Other libraries in the system specialize in different types of collections, so if there's something you want that they don't carry, there's a good chance you can get it with a bit of a wait."
