Reviews of Wilkes County Ems
"Everything about Wilkes County EMS is great, except some of their drivers. Here's what happened: In Washington, I was cruising around a curve at 25mph on Baltimore Rd. around where it meets S. Alexander. None of these are main roads. At the curve, there are trees blocking your vision of the road ahead, so I slowed down a little in case someone swerves into my lane when I make the turn. Guess what happened? Exactly what you think happened, but this time, it was an AMBULANCE. That's right. Plenty of space on his side of the road, but he still drove into the WRONG lane and almost caused a deadly head-on collision with my vehicle (the worst type of collision). He did all of this without slowing down at the curve. The driver did not seem to notice. He didn't even turn his head at me, even after I laid on the horn. If I didn't swerve onto the sidewalk, my younger brother and I would have been badly injured, especially since smaller vehicles always take the most damage in a collision. Also, the ambulance's sirens were not turned on, meaning it was not headed to an emergency. Most likely, he was just driving carelessly. Being more cautious when you cannot see the road ahead is BASIC defensive driving. Clearly, some EMS drivers need to step up their defensive driving and be extra aware of the physics of a more massive vehicle. That includes staying in your lane. This is especially true when headed to a real emergency, or when going at higher speeds. Seriously. It can save lives Paramedics are always supposed to be heroes. They are never supposed to be clumsy drivers, even in places where driving is generally an easy task, like in Washington."
