"This will be one of the shortest reviews I've ever written! LOL... I preface my review with that statement because I want to be careful with this review, and make sure that I am selective about what I say. Anything I say regarding this may easily be misinterpreted, and I certainly wouldn't want that to happen. That said, I want to say that this was actually my very first time visiting a mosque! One of my current roommates is Iranian, and I volunteered to attend mosque with him during Ramadan. It really was a great experience! I appreciated how kind and welcoming, and gentle and brotherly everyone was toward me. It was nice that no one there seemed to side-eye me or present me with a furrowed brow. I never got the impression that I was unwelcome, or that anyone questioned my presence. Thank you all for that! I think a reason why I took the photos was for the next person who might be searching for a mosque, and not know where to find one. This particular mosque is located right on the campus of Saint Louis University! I'm sure that there is some history, as to why or how that mosque appeared there, and whether or not it was there prior to the University's consistent expansion. But I won't delve into that because it would open a can of worms! You'll see from my pictures that this facility is very clean and sanitary! I'm sure that they do this purposefully to ensure that the space remains sacred and holy, and presentable to Allah. Even the area for washing one's feet and hands and face was very clean. It was also nice to see so many different ethnicities and people of color, there! I didn't expect to see that, either. I'm sure that there were people from the Middle East and Europe, as well as people from parts of southern Asia and Africa! So, when I tell you that everyone is welcome, here, I believe it's true. The women were fully covered and remained behind screens as to be separated from the men. I know that this is a Muslim tradition and practice, and that's all I will say on that. But I also enjoyed some of the food they served! In this moment, I can't quite recall the name of the shell dish I ate; however, one of the dishes was a shell that had been deep-fried, and filled with a type of beef and rice or beans, perhaps? It's been awhile since I had it so I might be mis-labeling it. Either way, they provided nice foods and I was grateful. Well, it appears that this has turned out to be another long review as opposed to a short one. I'm okay with that. The majority of my reviews are lengthy like this, anyway. The four stars I gave them on this experience are well deserved. Thank you and I hope to visit another mosque in the future!"
