Welcome to St. Louis County Fire Academy

Located at 1266 Sutter Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, the St. Louis County Fire Academy is a prestigious local government office dedicated to training and certifying firefighters for the 43 different fire departments and fire protection districts throughout St. Louis County. Since our inception in 1980, we have been the cornerstone of firefighter education and preparedness in the region.

Our Mission

As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational corporation, we are committed to providing top-tier training that meets the rigorous standards set by the St. Louis County Fire Standards Commission. Our mission is to ensure that all firefighters in the county are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and certifications necessary to protect and serve their communities effectively.

Pathways to Certification

We offer two distinct pathways to certification:

1. New Hires: Firefighters hired full-time by any of the 43 fire service districts in St. Louis County.

2. Self-Sponsored Students: Individuals who choose to enroll independently in our comprehensive training program.

Program Details

- Class Schedule: We conduct three classes annually, accommodating 32 students per class. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

- Tuition: The fee for our program is $4,635.00, which includes books and physical education attire. Please note, tuition is due in full three weeks prior to the start of classes, and no refunds are provided after commencement.

- Payment Options: Payments can be made via credit/debit card or cashier’s check. A 3% service fee applies to card payments, which can be avoided by using a cashier’s check.

In March 2017, we introduced our new Training/Burn Tower, enhancing our hands-on, practical training capabilities. This facility represents our commitment to providing cutting-edge resources for our recruits.
