"I used to skateboard here on Thanksgiving and on my birthday...In another life..."
"I do not agree with how the pastor runs his church. When a child isn’t ready to be baptized and the pastor tells him it’s just the devil talking. NOPE. I don’t trust this church!"
"Faith is a good church and is very welcoming towards its new members. However, the atmosphere was not for me. I really do not care for how the congregation acts towards other members and how they are constantly asking for donations. Pastor Chris Sommer was the only reason why I stayed here because his sermons related to my daily life. Pastor Paul brunette however I noticed has a "dry" personality and does not really put much emphasis into offering support with issues faced. These issues are one of the reasons why I terminated my membership at Faith and will be looking for another church."
"Looks like a typical Lutheran church BUT... it is SO not in the best way!! It is everything I love about a Non denominational service and everything I love about a Lutheran church all wrapped into one. Contemporary worship music where you can feel free to clap and raise your hands and worship God the way you feel and it is filled with fellowship and people who are willing to share their faith testimony. I grew up going to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Arnold. It was a WONDERFUL church to grow up in. I loved it. I loved vacation Bible school and Sunday school, pot luck dinners, Christmas nativity, candlelight services, mother daughter banquets, Easter breakfast and sunrise service, youth group and even confirmation classes. However, when I got older I wanted something a little less traditional and frankly, less rigid and boring. I wanted more of a "let the spirit move you" type of church. Because once the holy spirit got a hold of me I could no longer stand staunch while singing somber hymns. Our Jesus is alive so I wanted to attend a church that was as well. I have found that non denominational churches have my kind of worship but yet there were so many times where I would long for some of the Lutheran traditions and the pastors' education and wealth of knowledge. I always said if the worship of a non denominational church could somehow be combined together with the Lutheran church, it would make for one great church. Well, Faith is it!!! Faith is a Lutheran church where the Spirit moves and where people are joyful about it. Where hundreds of people are serving and not just a small few and where children are poured into and are of the upmost importance because they are the future church. I can raise my hands during worship and then also recite the Lord's Prayer. I can sing a song from Joy FM while looking upon their beautiful traditional stainglass cross. And when the pastor says He Is Risen ... I can respond joyfully with the traditional, "He has risen indeed, Alleluia!" Some very traditional Lutherans may faint after visiting but I believe there are more people (like me) and families who will leave feeling astounded and asking why aren't there more Lutheran churches like this? There is a reason Faith is growing and has so many services and other locations. You can feel the presence of God. This church is alive which is what a church should be. In my opinion, and from what I have read, so many Lutheran churches have lost the spirit. They are either stagnant or dead and young people and their families are no longer coming back to their faith. Faith church gives me hope! We should have accepted the invitations to visit years ago but we are thankful that we have now."
"From the first time we went to Faith 18 years ago, God has spoken to us and touched our lives in a very personal way. Faith is a large church that has a small church feel. I am most impressed with the outreach that we do supporting the founding of a 2nd church in Columbia Ill., and in so many ways. Faith truly touches the lives of the community."
