Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park

"Every single time I've been here, no one cared. My friends rushed me here once during a suicide attempt and they tried making me fill out paperwork as I was LITERALLY dying from the drugs I'd OD'd on. The ER doctors were rude. (The nurses I had cared more). And in the ICU, the plastic bit in my arm was bent and I was bleeding all over the place. This young "look how hot I am" nurse came in and WIGGLED IT AROUND IN MY VEIN making me bleeding more because it was easier than just setting a new IV (Which as a former nurse, I was trained that is what you should do!!) Their suicide "care team" treated me like burden. Then there is their mental ward. They don't take the time to assess you before putting you in either the high risk or low risk ward. I was slapped immediately into the hugh risk Ward and as I'm sitting there scared and having one of my worst days ever....this naked lady goes running down the hallway peeing. And I saw little effort to soak it up after and sanitize. In the low risk ward, they still played the "rock-a-bye" baby theme every time a child was born. Which in the middle of the night when you're having break downs is not the kinda chill atmosphere that you need. Beautiful garden outside of my windows. Great seating areas to watch TV between therapy sessions. But zero care for your actual recovery or you as a person."

"Never in my life have I ever experienced such total disregard. My son has been sick for aonth been to walk-ins now er. We dropped his primary last week cause she couldn't get him in for month. Dr mern didn't need to know all that acted like idk how to get my son a primary care Dr he had been with his primary for 14 years. His bedside manor was terrible. He acted like we use ER for a doctor when. I had stated we had already been to walkin and it didnt help. Never have I been so mad"

"Son was taken here for a bee sting that he was having a bad reaction to. He had been given benedryl prior to coming in. They kept him in the waiting area for quite awhile and when he asked to use a restroom, he said the nurse acted annoyed. They kept him under observation for two hours and sent him home after mentioning that he had an irregular heartbeat, which freaked him out- and they never told him why or if it had become regular prior to leaving. I spoke with a “patient advocate” who apparently are paid to advocate for the hospital system- so don’t bother there if that’s suggested. Generally- be a little kinder to patients, folks."

"Each time I have a reason to go to Genesis West, I am treated with respect, efficiency and given great attention from the physician and medical staff. The nurses, tho busy do an extremely good job of performing their duties. The x-ray technicians and others are quick to get you through your test and are extremely respectful of you privacy and your immediate needs. I wouldn't select any other hospital besides for Genesis West and East."
