"Probably one of the worst places I’ve ever worked. Besides the unsafe patient ratios, lack of team work, and compassion. Their new DON Tina Thompson tried to drop my pay from $26 hr to $17. And tried to tell me 17 years experience only paid $17hr I got proof of her trying to lower my pay and pay me unfair wages. And she went as far as to lie and say that is what the pay scale shows. Refused to call me back or pay me my wages. Got away with not paying me for training multiple employees. Called corporate and they’re just as worthless as her. Terrible management, Zach the administrator is just a warm body in the building. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone whether it be for services or to work here."
"My sister was sent here and her health deteriorated in part due to inadequate medical care. When she went into respiratory distress, fortunately the RN started her on Oxygen and when I insisted that she be taken by ambulance to nearest ER, the NP told me I was overreacting. Fortunately the staff did call an ambulance because my sister ended up in Cardiac ICU"
"NHC HelathCare, Fort Oglethorpe is a great center! Everyone is engaging and responsive to the care needs of the residents. Communication with the family is excellent as well. Therapy is provided and is state-of-the-art. The food is great and they offer a variety of options. Housekeeping is done daily. Activities are provided on an ongoing basis. I would absolutely recommend this facility to friends and family. NHC HealthCare, Fort Oglethorpe is an excellent choice if you are in need of skilled nursing or rehab services."
"DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONE AT THIS PLACE!!!! What a horrific experience!! My Mother was transferred to Erlanger on 6/04/2023. She was buried 7/18/2023 after a very long tumultuous several months. I received communication on any “behavior” issues immediately; however, I was never once contacted to advise me that my Mother had went from being able to feed herself and ambulate with a walker to bed bound, that multiple medicines and diagnoses had been added to her chart, or that layers of skin were missing from her abdomen due to a leaking ostomy! When I finally began asking questions shortly after Mother’s Day and visiting daily I was told she had also had a considerable weight loss and major cognitive changes! I reached out to the Administrator via a lengthy email outlining my concerns but had no further resolution or follow up!! Never ONCE did the Director of Nursing reach out in any way to address or treat her stomach!! One night after showering her I saw two nursing assistants ask each other “What are we doing with the ostomy?” I said what do her wound care orders say? There were NONE!!! Mother was in tremendous pain for months shamed by the smell and soiling of her clothes and in no mental state to deal with any of that! The answer was to put her on a HUGE dose of medication and to bed!!! She could not feed herself…. But the next call I received was telling me my frail Mother was being transferred out to Erlanger on a psych order. I could not see her or be with her. She further deteriorated and when I could it was too late!!! She admitted with Cellulitis of her abdomen and wound care was seeing her twice a day if that speaks to the condition of her stomach! I was called to pick up her things and when I did Mothers Medicaid was still paying for her bed and yet someone else was in it! When I asked for her things no one could find them! They contacted the DON who said they were in a storage unit and I could come back later. I had my 7 year old granddaughter with me and it was 83 degrees that day. On the way home I was called by a maintenance man who said if I came back he would get them and knew where they were. He asked me to pull around front in the parking lot where I sorted through my mothers things in the beating down Sun! I’m 23 years in healthcare I have NEVER seen this degree of negligence! They are HORRIFIC!!! They deemed her competent to make decisions regarding finances and roommates but suddenly incompetent enough to require huge doses of medication that would keep her somnolent and confined to the bed! I made myself available in every way to work on Mother’s wound that she DID NOT HAVE ON ARRIVAL TO NHC and on anything else that was needed. But an extra eye into what was really happening made all negligent parties involved uncomfortable!!! AGAIN DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE HERE!!! I cannot say enough how incompetent harsh and unqualified their director of nursing is!!"
"My mama was at NHC little over 10 months; mama was always treated with respect and kindness. The staff was great to mama and to us as well. The facility was always clean and her food always looked good. I am so thankful to NHC; we couldn’t care for mama 24 hrs a day like they did. Thanks to the Nurses and CNA's for the care you gave my mama."
