"As a 15-week pregnant patient, I expected a certain level of care and empathy, but my experience was far from satisfactory. I arrived at the facility and was there for over four hours, yet no substantial action was taken to address my medical concerns. The urgency to assist me was non-existent, and I eventually had to remove my own IV and leave to seek treatment elsewhere. This lack of responsiveness is unacceptable, especially given my condition. Moreover, the staff exhibited an unprofessional and uncaring attitude. There was no empathy shown towards my situation, and it felt as though they did not believe I was in pain. This added significantly to my distress. The state of the waiting area was also appalling, with tissues and paper left scattered on the floor. The environment was dirty and uninviting, which only exacerbated my negative experience. Given these issues, I find it necessary to highlight the following points for your urgent attention: 1. Lack of timely and adequate medical care. 2. Unprofessional behavior and lack of empathy from the staff. 3. Unhygienic conditions in the waiting area."
"I went to the emergency room and checked in between 5:30 and 6:00 pm on 3/23 . I felt terrible thought I might be dehydrated. Anyway my vitals were taken and a iv thing put in my hand and was told to go back to lobby. I sit there until almost 12:00 midnite. Several people got upset and left. The most unorganized emergency room with no compassion whatsoever. I had tried to find out how much longer it would be before I was called back and was told twice they would check and no one got back with me. At midnite when I told I needed someone to take the iv out so I could go the rn that came to take it out did not apologize or offer to check to see how much longer it would be before I got called back. Acted like she did not care. The security guy looked like he was goofing off half the time just carrying on with the women upfront. . How unprofessional and people out in the lobby sick. A terrible place to go if sick, management needs to step in and reorganize and make it a better place."
"5+ hours in the waiting room alone with crippling leg pain and a 5 and 2 year old with me. They refused to scan both of my legs because I had indicated that one hurt slightly more, and then never told me anything about the scan other than that it wasn’t what I guessed. Eventually I was so desperate to leave that I declined treatment for their loose guess at what the problem is (sciatica?) and am now headed home at 1am exhausted and still in so much pain."
"Friday 2-9-24 afternoon my husband was having severe pain and needed emergency care. We arrived at the ER 4:30pm and waited 4.5hrs for care. He is disabled and has 10 years of documentation on his autoimmune, chronic pain and rheumatoid arthitis. He is not currently on pain medication because he tries to avoid taking pain medication. However, about once per year he has pain flare ups that are unbearable. I am extremely disappointed in this ER. Not only the 4.5 hour wait, when he got back to a room, a nurse walked in and didn't say hello, intoduce herself, ask him about his symptoms, just handed him a urine test cup. I understand this may be protocol but it was unprofessional. The ER room ER was filthy. The floors had dust bunnies where they hadn't been swept in a week or more (much less mopped), dried blood on the floor, discarded caps on the floor, window sills hadn't been wiped in months. I understand ER's are busy but it wasn't a clean environment. Unfortunately we've had to visit emergency rooms when we've prevously lived in Mobile, AL and Texas. I've never been unhappy with the service until this experience. The Dr. that saw us was pleasant, I have no complaints there. Otherwise the experience was horrible. I don't blame the staff, I'm sure they work hard and are most likely understaffed. I blame the management and administration. I also understand they have to be careful with pain issues because of the opioid epidemic that a minority of Doctors caused. However, they still should treat people that truly have chronic pain with dignity. My husband is a former police officer and an Army veteran. I guess he was just offended to be handed a urine sample cup with no words, greeting or asking what he going through. Perhaps you should inform incoming emergency patients the estimated wait time. That would have saved us the tramatic experience, we would have gone somewhere else had we known 4+ hour wait. It may not be tramatic to you, but for someone experienceing severe pain it is a tramatic experience that could have been avoided. Any other "business " that makes customers wait for over 4 hours would be closed, that is for regular businesses not handling emergencies. . If you can't handle emergencies in a timely manner, the professional thing to do would be to make them aware so they can decide how to proceed. Instead of having them sit and wait with no answers."
