"Not for kids. So so so not for kids. Yesterday was my daughter's first dentist visit ever. She was incredibly nervous, understandably for any kiddo, but she's also had several surgeries, medical procedures, treatments and tests, etc., in her short five years. So, anything medical and new is a challenge for her, which we shared with office staff when making the appointment and again once in office. Also why we chose a pediatric dentist, thinking they'd be better with kiddos who have anxiety around medicine. Nope. Not even a little bit. Anyway, we spent a lot of time amping up the dentist prior to our visit. On the way there, she was excited and talking about how she hoped they had chocolate toothpaste, her teeth were going to be so shiny.. all good things. So, we arrive and we go back and the hygienist is immediately the wrong person for the job. My daughter was moving a little slowly to get back there and this woman was not having it. Just barking at her to keep moving. Immediately my spidey senses were tingling. We get back to the x-ray and despite the hygienist's sparkling attitude, my kiddo is still excited. She's asking questions about the chair and the machine, being silly, and the first two x-rays go off without a hitch. Then we get to the side x-rays that you have to bite down on the little plastic thing and it makes you gag a little bit. My kiddo tried the first one and started gagging. She has a small mouth and huge tonsils, so understandable. Plus, those things suck anyway. So, she's in the chair saying it's choking her, and Miss America Dental Hygienist is literally arguing with my kiddo. "It's too big to choke on, you can't choke, that's not happening, you need to stop." You know, all of the things that help kids start to calm down and participate. We get ready for round two, and same thing, makes her gag (this time she almost throws up). They call for back up. I explain to them that she's pretty sensitive and am about to ask if they can cut the little rubber part down (like they do at my dentist) when back up lady interrupts me saying "Ma'am, we use this on 3 year olds." Because as you know, every single child's mouth is the exact same. That's just science. Then original hygienist lady says, in front of my kiddo, "Mom, hold her down so we can do this." Now, because of my little one's medical history, she knows being held down usually means something is going to hurt, so that statement was pretty much the end of her playing nice for the entire appointment. And, in my motherly and humanly opinion, maybe could have been whispered to me on the side and not loudly announced to my child as a threat. But, to each their own I suppose? So, dentist jumps in and says no need for x-rays, let's move this party along. Cool, good plan. We get to the exam room and my daughter is terrified. The dentist comes in and I explain to her a little bit about my daughter's medical history and again, before I can say "so let's give her a few minutes to calm down" starts lecturing me about health and hygiene and having to hold her down to do what needs to be done. Ma'am, as a mother of a child who had neurosurgery when she was 9 months old and a series of surgeries after, I can assure you I am fully aware that there are situations that warrant that. Brushing my kids teeth on HER VERY FIRST VISIT TO THE DENTIST EVER is not one of them. We get to the cleaning part and I hold my kiddos arms and they brush her teeth, but she's still upset and is making a lot of noise while it happens. The hygienist then yells at her to stop. Yells at her. A five year old. Who is terrified. I honestly thought yesterday was going to the day, guys. I was ready. Bottom line, we made it through the appointment, but they are not good with kids. They are not cooperative if your kiddo is having a hard time. All they cared about was getting her in and out for that $$$$. They also charged me for x-rays even though we didn't get them AND they're covered by my insurance. So, bad all around. I would call anyone else. Literally anyone else."
"We have been going to All Grins for years. Never had an issue and are very happy with the team here!"
"My young child has always had a pleasant experience here. The doctors and nurses are so sweet and caring."
"I am only giving one star because they were nice for the 5 years we used them, but this took a turn this month after we moved. My daughter had a cavity and it was filled at this dental office that was 6 months ago, but little did we know they didn't clean out all of the cavity and put the filling on top of the cavity. In the meantime we have moved and now have a new dentist and there was a growth on her gums where that filling and cavity is. That's when we found out what this dental office did. Now, my daughter has an infection in her jaw, she was on 10 days of antibiotics, where that tooth is and not only is she having to get that tooth removed, but it also spread to the next tooth. That cost us more money, my child's mental state of having to now have 2 teeth removed over something so simple as making sure the cavity was cleaned out. I really liked this dentist, but when we found out about all this, just make sure they do a good job and follow through."
