"I purchased a car here 11/20/23 2011 GMC Acadia just needed something quick and bigger for my growing family. They let me pay $500 less for the down payment but my first biweekly payment was higher no biggie. Here’s the problem, this place said that the only problem this vehicle had was that it was hard to turn left and right. John said “Not all the time but you will have to put some force into it.” I test drove it and didn’t feel it but like he said doesn’t happen all the time. I was like so does it need power steering fluid? Nope he said they checked all fluid looks good. Ok cool I’ll deal with it. It’s older probably just what happens. Fast forward to registration I got my temp tags first then went back to the DMV to get it registered. I needed a waiver since I haven’t had a car in Missouri before. I went online & they had an option of in person or emailing, I emailed them (I have the proof) 11/27/23 They didn’t get back to me until 1/25/24 and I didn’t receive the waiver in the mail until 2/2/24. I didn’t know safety and emissions expired after 60 days. They had tested on this vehicle 11/13/23 approximately a week before me purchasing. Well I had to now get another safety & emissions test and the mechanic told me that my rack and pinion will not pass inspection. Instantly called them (south side auto) & told them what happened John was the one who answered, he had the nerve to tell me it’s 2 months later there’s no telling how I was driving it. I said , you admitted to me how hard it was to turn the wheel of the car, how did this pass safety and emissions?? He said he doesn’t know he just drops it off at the shop and sells it. I told him that was fraudulent and you can’t just sell people vehicles lying about the problem of the car. He said verbatim “I can sell you whatever the hell I want” I told him the conversation was recorded and he said he didn’t care. I really liked this place thinking they were different than other buy here pay here shops. Lying to your customers and fraudulently passing safety and emissions to sell a vehicle is not integral nor do I ever want to do business with again. And I will make sure to post this wherever possible. “As is” doesn’t mean lie."

"When you purchase from a small, City lot, please realize, these vehicles are sold AS IS, these are not NEW Vehicles, and you are not at Don Brown. With that being said, if you cooperate with John, he is happy to help fix any immediate issues you may experience. He has recently changed some things, my husband happens to be his new Mechanic, So, I personally know he is inspecting these vehicles legally, my husband is about as honest as a mechanic comes in this City. They also have a better selection of cars coming, so if you want honesty, and fair prices, they are willing to help! If you want perfection, warranties and have the credit, hit Don Brown and quit complaining!"

"DO NOT GET CARS HERE!!! I purchased one of their Cadillacs and they faked the safety and emissions, I still can't get it legal and I have a $4,000 repair bill. I'm at a loss with this car because I got SCAMMED with a faulty safety and emissions and a messed up car right off the lot. PLEASE BEWARE!!!"

"5 cars!!! Yes I've gotten 5 cars from John. He's always been honest with me. Fair to the pricing. When I have issue, he tries to resolve it on his end. I refer people to him all the time cause we all know life is hard and with his low monthly payments you can be sure your able to pay him off quickly and so easy. I do wish he had a website and a way to pay online or over the phone but . I know it's coming soon. Thank you John for all you do. I will be with you shortly about my son's first car.
