"The rest area has seen better days. Several of the picnic tables are missing seats. Be aware that there are also no bathrooms or running water at the rest stop. It does however serve its intended purpose of a rest stop."
"Beautiful place to pull off and get out of the car for sure!! Place is lowkey creepy! Feels like there always someone or something watching you. Didn't stay long, only to change drivers and that was enough for us!"
"Nondescript wilderness area along US Route 20 in Hanover, IL heading toward Galena. We were lucky with an incredible, closeup viewing of a bald eagle that was literally sitting on a rock outcrop on the side of the road. Even when we backed up to get a better view, it only flew up to a branch of a tree by the side of road, still quite visible. I'm sure other creatures critters are plentiful, but the Eagle sighting was a spectacular experience."
"We visited Galena, Illinois and browsed through a few shops. On the way home stop at the Tapley Look out Point. The view was lovely! Colors of brown, green etc. there's areas there to picnic and washrooms open til 10pm (clean washrooms) a nice, peaceful area."
"First off the area is very beautiful and the 2-4 times a week I travel through the area is always a joy, however the 3 star rating is due to the displays current state of deterioration and the restrooms that are beyond disrepair. No thought given to travelling truckers who may want to take in the beauty of the area. It's a pleasure to drive/walk through but don't plan on staying long as it is a much smaller area than most parks."
