The Corpsewood Manor

"Wear jeans! There is a lot of overgrowth and downed trees, as of July 12, 2024., when getting closer to B the manor. Very little of the structure is still standing. Still a pretty, short, easy hike! Limited area to park."

"Simply incredible. I was beginning to believe that the ruins were sadly no more after walking for a while but then as I turned the corner there they were. It is a stunning and eerie place lost in time and reclaimed by nature but the essence of what it once was can still be recognized. For the sake of my fellow explorers, I feel it beneficial to point out that you may drive by the trail entrance you are looking for. It is not clearly marked other than by a rock adorned in yellow lettering reading "here" and an arrow directing you. It is off the left side of the desolate gravel road you will be driving on to get to it. You can recognize it by the way it dips down out of sight. The only place to park is directly in front of the entrance and there is little room, so be mindful. When you're searching Google Maps for it, I would recommend routing to "Corpsewood Manor Parking" which is a pinned location placing you directly at the trailhead. The trail itself becomes quite sloppy and muddy after rainfall and large trees have fallen messily across the path so some acrobatics including climbing, ducking, and even crawling is involved; please be careful as I've gashed my leg nicely climbing over them. The trail branches off several times to unknown destinations but thankfully sticks and stones lie everywhere along it to make arrows out of to help you remember your way back. The unknown spectre who painted the entrance rock has also marked other stones along the trail with further directions and eerie warnings so you'll know if you're still on the right track. The way to the ruins is deceptively longer than it seems so make sure to come prepared with basic amenities including water. Naturally, there is a weak almost non-existent signal so phone use is very limited. As mentioned what is left of the ruins themselves is well worth the expedition. I strongly recommend a camera. Unfortunately they have been tainted by graffiti and copious garbage that is also evident all along the way to them; it's a shame that even they haven't been preserved from the ignorance and indifference of some. As you walk around, mind the broken glass and remnants of the manor that are sticking up out of the ground but well hidden, a bad fall is a real risk. If you prepare well and travel smartly they are a memorable sight to behold."

"It wasn’t too difficult to find. We followed the path and it lead us right to (what’s left of) the manor. The pictures others have posted online look nothing like what I saw. It was completely overgrown, trees down all over (including the path to find it) and lots of trash left behind by visitors. If it stays this way no one will be able to visit it in a few years because nature is going to completely take over the manor. What I found the most interesting was how quiet it was. Not a single sound. It’s very eerie and peaceful. No wind, no animals, no chirping…nothing. I wish I would’ve brought a trash bag with me to pickup everything left by others."

"Driveway/path to the manor is easy enough to find, and I don't doubt the trail to the Manor would be easy in the fall. However in the thick of summer, this place gets pretty overgrown and I found myself second-guessing my direction constantly. I was amazed once I found it, but a word of caution: step carefully, as this place seems unstable in a few areas (trees and masonry ready to fall). Just keep your wits about you and be respectful to the local community, which seems very quiet and sleepy. There are no trail markers, but the path is rather straight forward until you get about 5 minutes from the Manor. Then it gets a bit confusing."
