"We went to Taqueria Morita with a group of 8 and got seated indoors around 3:45 since it was super sunny outside. The waiter gave us paper menus for happy hour without any explanation. We later found an online QR code menu hidden on the napkin box (I attached a picture below). We were confused because no one explained what was going on. When we scanned the QR code, all we got was the beverages menu since it was time-sensitive on Toast. Turns out they only serve a limited happy hour menu and no tacos until 5:00 PM, which was a bummer. Half of us were really hungry, so we ordered from the happy hour menu while the rest of us waited until 5:00 to order tacos. Here's what we had: - Potato & Rajas Taquitos: 8/10 - the platter was nicely organized and vegetarian-friendly. - Quesadilla Gringa: 7.6/10 - a bit oily but not too bad. - Carne Asada Tacos: 8.2/10 - the meat was juicy and the seasoning was on point. Now, about the service... It was a slow afternoon with maybe three tables in the whole restaurant. Our waiter kept disappearing for long periods and seemed rushed or unhappy when she did show up. We noticed she was also the bartender, which was confusing since there were multiple waiters on the floor. Not sure why the service was so bad. On the bright side, the atmosphere was great—good music, bright and colorful decor, and very clean. Overall, we'd go back, but hopefully, the service improves next time!"
"We had a lovely time sitting on the patio. The tacos are so yummy! Service I gave 4 stars because it is sort of serve yourself. You use an app and place your own order, pay through the app. The staff that were there were very nice, but we ran out of water twice."
"Wow!! Food was amazing!! Ordered their carne asada tacos and they were so yummy!!! I got their special the lengua tacos and omg I want more!! Drinks on point. I like how they have you order your drinks and food with a QR code. Got seated on the patio and it was such a nice night to be out there. Will be back for their lunch."
"Was really excited about having a new Mexican place close to the office. Starting with the positive the fish tacos were excellent. Great flavor and fresh ingredients. The mezcal margarita was also tasty. Be aware, though, that everything (and I mean everything) is done via QR code and app. Need a refill? “Scan the QR code” …more chips? (that were burnt) “scan the QR code” oh and also pay another $6 for a tiny basket. I get this saves on operating cost and requires less staff, but it makes the dining experience very poor. The last thing I want to do is be sitting with company on my phone. There’s no interaction other than someone bringing food/drinks out, so do not expect a typical sit down experience. Was really hoping for a new local place to support as we eat lunch as a team a lot, but sadly this will probably be our first and only visit."
"Taqueria Morita, previously an outdoor pop-up in Vicia’s courtyard by Michael and Tara Gallina’s Take Root Hospitality, is now a permanent thing and I couldn’t be happier. It’s in the former Wasabi space at 4239 Duncan Ave. in the Cortex District in the CWE. Open for lunch and dinner! Happy hour 3-6! Taqueria Morita grew and can now accommodate approximately 100 seats. It’s got a modern Mexican restaurant vibe The menu has an array of apps including the tuna crudo which was amazing and tacos, salads, and bowls. I had the fish tacos. Yummy! Love the corn tortillas!"
