"Im includung the positives 1st keep reading to see the important reaons for the single star rating. 1st the building is nicely kept and very pretty stained glass. I first attended this church in 2012. At after church breakfasts we met a few people who were nice and inclusive of new members. Many are not!!!! The older priest was intune to congregation and provided very relatable and memorable sermons. He did my son's 1st communion and we enjoyed how he included all members especially kids. Our visiting family had great things to say about this experience. On the contrast; The younger priest was unapproachable, distanced his sermons from the congregation (extremely abstract and a very old school; fire and brimstone tone to a majorityof his sermons). Nothing relatable about his personality, content in sermons, conduct and parish messages to try and engage the members. He (the younger one) officiated our daughters 1st communion and it was clear that he wasn't interested in including the congregation and last of all the kids. (This is a great opportunity to showcase this sacrament and get younger kids engaged and excited about future sacraments). Visiting family was stunned this was the same church 2+ years earlier and the older priest was still there. They just rotated officiating. Move forward 4-6 years and our family had a terrible time and needed to lean on our faith for help. My spouse and I contacted the church and even asked for the older priest and were told that it's the young one "on call" .. day after day after day this was the response. We gave the younger priest a run down of what was going on (our own marital sacrament risk was the only part we needed church support on) and that needed help. His response "We don't do that here, you need professional help". We of course were pursuing 'professional help/services '. Needless to say we were absolutely shocked that our leader, shepherd and religious guide would turn us away and refuse to address this need and refuse any follow up from him or the older priest. We parted ways with SJV and found an amazing community and spiritual/religious leadership and support at another congregation another town over in LeClaire called 4 Square- a Christian group that more than fulfill our religious, spiritual, family needs. IMHO the trade off was well worth it."

"Church is beautiful with many very kind people-- but there are way too many unChristian acting persons who make it really hard to join and share in Church activities. Some are down right intimidating and Very Mean and quality as acting in Grave Sin by trying to keep others from working towards being part of Christ and the church."
