"Former sole commissioner, and now chair of the board of commissioners, Shannon Whitfield is one of the most dishonest professionals I have ever encountered."
"Shannon Whitfield is an embarrassment"
"If you are looking for a Board of Commissioners that listens to the people, rules for the people and works for(and with) the people, this isn’t the place. Chairman Whitfield HAS to be in charge of everything. His ego gets in the way of making decisions that are good for the County. The Animal Shelter is the worst ran shelter that I’ve ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Whitfield has made poor decisions when he thinks that he knows what he’s doing with concern for the animals. Don’t even get me started on the high taxes this County has to endure under his “leadership”."
"The county commission is very dysfunctional in its currently seated board. I work with a local pet rescue and it is nearly impossible to work with them to rescue and aid pets in need. The commission, especially the chairman, seems to be indifferent to animal abuse and neglect cases and refuses to take any action. Hopefully there will be some staffing changes soon. Any change would almost have to be an improvement."
"The chairman of our newly elected Board of Commissioners will not work with the board, resulting in our government being broken. Our District Commissioners continue to do what they were elected to do, and when said items are sent to the chairman, he refuses to act on them. Personal intimidation and bullying of citizens and organizations continues, just as it did with a sole commissioner. Really hoping that Walker County will catch up with the rest of the state."
