About the Business
Welcome to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services - Davenport Child Support Recovery Office, located at 3911 West Locust Street, Davenport, Iowa 52804. As a local government office, we are committed to supporting families and ensuring the welfare of children in our community.
Our office provides vital services related to child support, especially for children in foster care. We believe that all parents are responsible for the financial support of their children, regardless of their living arrangements. Whether your child is in family foster care, shelter care, group care, or independent living, it's crucial to understand your financial responsibilities.
Parents are expected to pay child support whether the placement in foster care is voluntary or court-ordered. This obligation applies to both parents, regardless of their relationship status, but excludes stepparents. The child support amount is determined by the District Court and Child Support Services using the Iowa Supreme Court guidelines, and it contributes to the total cost of foster care, initially covered by the State of Iowa.
We urge parents to provide accurate income information, which is essential for calculating the recommended amount of child support. Once determined, the District Court will approve the child support order, and a copy will be sent to you. If a prior support order exists, no new order will be issued, but the support is still owed to the state for the duration of the child's stay in foster care.
Our office primarily collects child support through income withholding. For more information on how to make non-income withholding payments, please visit the Child Support Services Making Payments page. If your child receives government benefits or you are a representative payee, notify your social worker or juvenile court officer, as the state will assume this role during the foster care period.
We are dedicated to providing equitable services and do not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, religion, political beliefs, physical or mental disability, or veteran status.
For more details about our services, including case-specific information, visit our website at [www.childsupport.ia.gov](http://www.childsupport.ia.gov) or call our automated information line at 1-888-229-9223. We also encourage you to explore the new Iowa Child Care Connect Child Care Search.
Thank you for visiting the Davenport Child Support Recovery Office, where we strive to support and empower families in our community.

"I'll say straight up I've been on child support about 15 years in total and the worker Marlo at the davenport branch is literally the most incompetent worker I've ever met. Unless she is directly holding I formation because I am a man.... she has told me contradicting things to what every other case worker has told me multiple times. If you're a man I would not bother calling the office especially if you have to talk to marlo.... it's very evident she is there to help mothers and mothers only and biased people should not work for the state..."
"Just another criminal entity that will never be fixed. These people should not be allowed to garnish wages. Funny how I was never once behind when I was paying directly to the court. As soon as these people got involved I can’t even get the right number to catch up. I called to explain I owe more than what the say to catch up and stay up to date. Instead they just took their number and went after my paycheck while I was trying to get it straight to make a payment in order to stay ahead.."
"I went to turn in paperwork and they refused to take a payment in person. what's the point of this building when you have people sitting in there all day doing nothing and an attorney? this building is nothing but a waste of time cost me bunch of headaches they do nothing apparently it's all handled in Des Moines it's not that hard to take somebody's money and write a receipt for payment I shouldn't have to go to Walmart or Casey's or MoneyGram just to make a payment to child support The state needs to shut this building down and save themselves a bunch of moneyand save themselves a bunch"
"If I could give 0 stars I would they put my fiancé on child support bc of his baby mom they allowed her to give them fake information which caused problems and they refuse to answer his calls to talk To supervisor and they refused to allow him to talk to whoever the supervisor is. Every time I’ve talked to them they’ve made it clear that it’s our “fucking problem and we can deal with it “"
"My husband called with a couple questions during a review after calculations were made and the case work threatened him to redo it and figure in overtime, THAT HE DOES NOT WORK. He told her he could provide her with 18 pay stubs (since starting with current employer) to prove it. And she started screaming at him, and asking him why he was so concerned that they would figure in overtime?!?!?!?! How do you threaten someone to figure in income they do NOT have and then ask them why they are so worried about it. He is already paying 66% of the average annual cost to raise a child (66% of $16,000 annually) along with providing amazing/expensive health care for his child. Why would someone not have questions when you say you are going to re-calculate using income they do not receive?!"
