Welcome to the Walker County Sanitary Landfill, an essential local government office dedicated to providing vital waste disposal services to the community. Located at 5120 North Marble Top Road, Chickamauga, Georgia, our facility plays a crucial role in reducing health hazards and environmental concerns by ensuring the proper disposal of waste.

Operating Hours:

We are open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note that we are closed on Sundays. All customers must offload their waste and exit the facility by 4:00 p.m. For efficient service, large loads that cannot be quickly unloaded may be turned away. We encourage you to plan your visit accordingly. Additionally, the landfill will be closed on November 23 and 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, reopening on Saturday, November 25.

Guidelines and Services:

In light of COVID-19, we ask residents to limit non-essential outings and adhere to our updated safety guidelines. Our services include the disposal of various waste types, and we urge you to separate household waste from construction and demolition (C&D) waste before arrival. Recycling Initiatives:

We are proud to offer free recycling for reusable materials, including cans, paper milk/juice cartons, paper, cardboard boxes, greeting cards, and select plastics. Our recycling efforts are part of our commitment to sustainability and community well-being.

Retire Your Tires Amnesty Day:

Our "Retire Your Tires" Amnesty Day events have been a tremendous success, with the community coming together to recycle a total of 26,324 tires across five events. These initiatives not only help keep our roads clean but also promote environmental responsibility.

We regularly hold public meetings to discuss expanding our C&D Landfill, ensuring that we continue to meet the growing needs of Walker County residents.
