"Would be a nice library if it was open more often. Closed most of the time kids are out of school. Does not open on Sundays, as if it was a liquor store or some other vice. Ordering books for pick up doesn't work, either. More than half the time I attempt to request a book through the BPL website, it hangs in "On hold" status for weeks, and then quietly disappears. The staff is always clueless. I have switched to Minuteman library."
"The children section has a nice space to sit on the floor with a toddler and read board books."
"Ordered some books in West Roxbury public library. Due to the pandemic they scheduled a curb pick up. Something came up and I couldn’t be there within the timeframe. I came right afterwards and called them while waiting outside. A gentleman was on the phone and said he was going to bring the books outside and right after he said that, he changed his mind and refused doing so. My son got so sad as he has been waiting patiently for these books as we put an order and waited for a while. How rude that was?! Would have cost him absolutely nothing by bringing the order outside and I was right there... instead I had one little bit full with tears in his eyes of the idea that he still can’t have his books in his hands that he has been waiting for so long. The staff is not very welcoming even on the phone every time I call. I used to be part of this library, but I’m feeling disappointed lately with their service."
"I’ve been coming to this library for the past few weeks to get work done on the weekends and it is a nice place to stay focused. Everyone is respectful of one another and the quiet atmosphere. I’ve had no issues leaving my stuff on a desk while using a bathroom, so that’s a great upside. Wish I could eat a snack though, since I usually stay for the whole day... chairs are comfortable and bathrooms are always clean :)"
"This is the LOUDEST library I've ever been to. I've been here ~10 different times now to attempt to study and I leave early Every. Single. Time. People here talk on their phones like it's a cafe, have full volume conversations whether it be for a tutoring session or just a group of kids here after school, and none of the librarians can be bothered to do anything about it. I literally have my headphones in with classical music turned up and I can STILL hear the people around me. Aside from the noise, the study spaces are outdated with creaky chairs and desks that have an overall rundown appearance/feel. Also, parking can be difficult. So, honestly I wouldn't recommend this library to anyone unless they're absolutely desperate and even then, a Starbucks is likely quieter. Really unfortunate. The only positives are the long hours, but again, a quieter coffee shop would have similar hours."
