"2021: closed Sunday and Monday. Check website for hours. Currently Wed & Thursday have the longest from 2-7. This is an adorable old Gothic church saved from destruction by dedicated Belmont citizens. It's welcoming and open to other town's folk for free. The hours are a bit limited because in order to save it, it's entirely run by volunteers and has no legal association with the town of Belmont's larger library on Concord Ave. (which is essentially across from Clay Pot pond and the high school.) Instead, the Benton library is in a quiet beautiful neighborhood at the corner of Oakley & Old Middlesex Road (75 Oakley to be exact) but you can Not not notice this stone chapel built in 1892, used for public meetings in 1903, a public library in 1930, closed by the town in 2009 and reopened by volunteers Elizabeth Gibson, Virginia Jordan and many others. Check the hours (including story times) at ecbentonlibrary dot org. With 7,500 + catalogued books and more for sale, you'll discover an oasis in this small treasure. Bus #73."
