Reviews of Watertown Free Public Library
"Recently visited this library but not a big fan. As someone who is above 21 and is restricted to the 2nd floor of the library, there is no actual spot for people who like to work in quiet spaces. The study rooms and cubicles are almost always booked/taken. The Whitney Family Reading Room is the most quiet room in the library probably but that also has two open entrances and given that it is right next to the reference desk, it has random noises coming in all the time. There were also kids shouting here and there which was disturbing (especially given they have an area for kids in the building). I understand that public libraries have disturbances but I have never been this disturbed by systems within the library."
"Outstanding library! Friendly and helpful staff. Gorgeous places to work or sit and read. Incredibly grateful to have access to this wonderful clean and calming place. Shoutout to the janitor; I have never seen cleaner public facilities. If I could give it 10 stars I would!"
"The Watertown libs is the place to be. They have it all! Books! Zines! Video games! Plus the common areas are a great quiet place to focus and study. The Watertown Free Public Library is the jewel of the town. Highly recommended for anyone who with a Minuteman Library network card."
"I’ve been to this library countless times and each time I feel more and more unwelcome. The man that works in the cafe thinks the FOUR back tables are his work desk and gets visibly angry when all the other tables are full and you ask him if you can sit at his “desk”. Today with 3 toddlers and 1 infant we unfortunately had to take his “desk” to eat our lunch. He was visibly upset we needed his table and made it very known he was upset with us when we went up to ask for a napkin. He told us he needed to save the napkins… so bring your own napkins for your toddlers because he’s saving them for something. The librarians in the toddler area are nice when they want to be it seems. I get it that working in the part of the library designated for small children is so challenging and I’m not one of those people who lets their kid go absolutely crazy in that part. We respect the rules and follow them. It’s getting increasingly more and more difficult to come to this library and feel at peace walking in. Not waiting to be talked down to by someone who works here. We’ve decided to take a little break from this library and we’ve been venturing to the Waltham library and this one is so nice and relaxing. I feel so at peace here and they have the amazing outdoor part where the kids can go play. Highly recommend that library."
"beautiful facilities and super helpful and friendly staff. the cafe is great too, there's a real sense of community every time I visit."
