Welcome to the Hanns Sachs Memorial Library, a treasured resource of the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute (BPSI), located at 169 Herrick Road, Newton, Massachusetts. Our library houses an extensive collection of both historic and contemporary psychoanalytic literature, along with over 90 bound journals and current periodicals. Among our collection, you will find essential psychoanalytic references, the writings of Sigmund Freud, and significant works on child analysis and psychotherapy.

In addition to our library resources, the BPSI Archives offer a wealth of historical materials, including personal papers, books, photographs, and audio and video recordings. These archives encompass the works and papers of notable figures such as Ives Hendrick, Isadore Coriat, Felix and Helene Deutsch, Grete and Edward Bibring, Walter Langer, and the Suzanne T. van Amerongen collection focused on child analysis.

Our Library Committee, which meets monthly, is dedicated to discussing policy matters and making recommendations to enhance the library's offerings and services. The library is conveniently located on the first floor of our building at 141 Herrick Road, Newton Center, MA, just a five-minute walk from the Newton Centre T Station. We are proud to offer a handicapped-accessible facility with ample parking for our visitors.
