"I came to Yomana in February '23 with 35 years of chronic back issues primarily caused by mild-moderate thoracic scoliosis but which became much worse over the past 5 years as a result of Covid inactivity, a high-stress job, too much sitting, simultaneous major life changes, and age. Although I kept up a vigorous 2-3x/week power yoga practice, monthly massage, regular 1-6 mile walks, and bi-weekly chiropractic care, I was in constant pain, had limited mobility, and had more or less resigned myself to the fact that this is what my life was going to be like - that this was the best I could expect in my 50s. It would be all downhill from here!! I was thinking I would probably have to see a surgeon soon to have some kind of invasive procedure in order to maintain or to get back some small degree of the active life I've always led. So when I moved to the area in December 2022, I began to google for a new treatment team. I was intrigued by Yomana's experience in not only massage but energy work. She seemed sincere, vastly qualified, and humble about that. My greatest hope was that she could ease some of my chronic discomfort and help me maintain the limited mobility in what I'd come to refer to as my s**tty back. I mean I'd seen so many qualified practitioners over the years who were so lovely and who I valued, trusted, and whose treatments left me feeling good as I left their offices. But the relief was always short-term. Within a few days to a week or so, I'd be back to my decrepit self -- unable to bend to pick up a sock off the floor let alone do a decent forward fold in yoga. Meh. After my 3rd treatment with Yomana, something really big seemed to shift. 5 days after that treatment I could sit for longer periods without excruciating pain and I remember remarking to my husband as we were walking up a long flight of stairs how really really good I felt. I was cautiously optimistic, but seriously, it was the best I'd felt in longer than I could recall. So I'm now going on 3 months of weekly massage with Yomana and I know my spine will never be in Simone Biles shape, but you know I can forward fold in yoga again and put myself into warrior three without bracing myself on my legs ... and picking up a sock off the floor is no longer something I have to think about or groan while doing. So this feels like success to me. I'm not only grateful for the relief, but I'm optimistic that there is room and time left for me to improve and get my back in better condition than I thought possible. Yomana has some of my favorite qualities in a person. She is incredibly experienced and competent and at the same time down to earth and humble about that. And she's all about doing her best--every single treatment and making a real difference for everyone who comes to her for help. She's also truly kind and has a sense of humor that I appreciate.
