"Dr Abele is excellent very thorough and professional. His nurse or assistant on the other hand is rude every time I go I actually mentioned to the dr I never wanted to see her again don’t know her name as she never bothers to greet you or tell you her name too much in a rush to be pleasant or professional. I have worked 40 yrs in healthcare and she is one of the worse"
"I've been a patient at PMA since 1992 (when I moved from N.H. to No. Andover, Ma). I've seen many PCP's some good some not so good. I had a great PCP at Riverwalk in Lawrence but for some reason he was on leave for approximately 9 months. My cardiologist recommended Dr. Abele. As a matter of fact he told me he was looking for a new doctor himself, and he was seriously considering him. I took his advise and got on board with Dr. Abele. Trust me I have every ailment from A-Z. I actually felt bad for him for taking me on as a patient. MY first visit with him was for a complete physical. I came in with a list of health problems. One being I'm always so tired and no energy, he said have you ever had your vitamin B levels checked? Well he ordered blood work and found that my extremely low levels were probably the reason. I started with oral vitamin B and monthly injections. I have to say I see an improvement. Also I suffer with depression/anxiety and now feel so much better. I could go on and on. Guess what I will....LOL!! I walked into his office for my first visit with a walker, lymphedema of both legs, problems after back surgery and fibromyalgia. I can't tell you how much time he spent with me. I was so impressed with that and his knowledge of medicine. If you have a scheduled appointment with him then trust you WILL get the time with him and his full attention. Most out of office communication with him is through the "Patient Portal" so you have to be patient (which for me is not one of my virtues). However he will get back to you. I give Dr. Abele 5 STARS!!!!"
"The staff is very professional and well organized to provide a comfortable and safe medical visit amidst concerns about Covid-19. I received a thorough physical and Dr. Abele listened to all my concerns asking thoughtful questions and made helpful recommendations."
"Dr. Abele is a very good doctor--with whom I am happy to work--as are his nurses. However, the current answering service is far from robust. I understand "longer than usual wait times" but once connected it has been difficult to have simple questions answered. E.g., After a recent virtual call with Dr. Abele, I called the office to explain that I had additional symptoms (which I neglected to mention to the doctor) that may be COVID-related. I asked if the doctor would recommend a test. "We don't do that anymore, call 211" which I did. After an intake with 211, she suggested I call my doctor to recommend a test. I called back and left a message for the doctor. After 24 hours, I called again and asked to speak with a nurse for 2 reasons: to discuss a test and to make an in-person followup appt requested by the doctor. The nurse did recommend a COVID test and I am waiting for their call to schedule. However, no one has called back to schedule the appt. I've called three times and "no one is available to take your call." But the service said she would put in a request for Brittany to call back. Please know that I routinely avoid reviews. However, the answering service put me on hold 7 times (!) during one call and 4 times on another. I've not had this kind of experience in the past and do appreciate that things are different now. But seriously."
"Truly one of the best doctors I have had in my life. Dr. Abele is thorough, he listens to my concerns and supports my need for “quality of life.” I have had a “mystery illness” for almost 2 years and have seen so many doctors and Dr Abele seems to work hard to find a resolution for my complex issues. He talks to my other speciality doctors to collaborate findings (which to me seems rare these days), he communicates to me to keep me informed and he has the knowledge and skillset to solve other issues fast (leg cramps, daily headaches, etc). I have a lot of issues and switching to him for my PCP has been the best decision. Soooo... A+++"
