"I can't believe the reviews are so good on this doctor. Honestly, I cannot. I went to see him for sciatic pain and brought copies of MRI etc. He entered the room, didn't greet me or shake my hand. He was laid back and fairly dismissive. When I told him about my symptoms he he barely listened looked at the MRI and said 75% chance I will need fusion surgery. He didn't examine me, he didn't suggest PT he jumped to surgery. Given this was my first issue with a bulging disc my primary doctor said it was "outrageous" to suggest surgery without giving it at least three to six months as 85% self resolve. And without PT and if that failed then try an injection. I was so disappointed in this doctor. He didn't show any sincere empathy about my pain and situation. I got a appointment with a Spine Doctor at the Baptist and it's a night and day experience. Be weary of this Dr. is my only suggestion."

"The below video is of me “dancing” 8 weeks after surgery! The Dr. Chao somehow had my MRI results within 30 minutes of the MRI while I was in the ER. He order more X-rays, they wheeled me back to imaging to get the X-rays. His office scheduled me for a Saturday appointment the day of my discharge while I was still in ER…absolutely amazing! At the appointment, he told me it was 50/50 as whether I’d need surgery or not. He order a cortisone shot. Met with me again about three weeks later. Since there was only some relief and I still couldn’t walk he recommended surgery. Dr Chao showed me that I have a curved spine due to one leg be longer than the other. The surgery consisted of Dr. Chao shaving down to protrusion into my sciatic nerve between L4 and L5. This video at my nephew’s wedding 8 weeks post surgery says it all!"
