"I've been trying to find a doctor that listens and takes me seriously since mid 2016 (15yo) after I developed debilitating chronic pain. No one wanted to deal with me, no one knew what to do, no one wanted to prescribe opioids even after every other pain management method failed. Several even didn't believe me, or believe my pain was real. I've had over a dozen surgeries because my urologist firmly believed it was from kidney stones, before he finally listened to what I was saying. I had to drop out of school at 16 because everyone was neglecting my needs. I'm 23 now and I haven't even been able to get a job because no one else wanted to do more to help me. Dr. Hastings looked through pretty much my entire file to get a better idea of what I tried (a lot) and what I didn't (only one). I even forgot about half of the medications she was able to find. She's very kind, understanding, thorough, and very easy to talk to, and she's never beaten around the bush when it came to my care. My pain is being adequately managed while I wait for her to get prior authorization for more long-term treatment. For the first time in almost a decade, I have a doctor that won't lie to me or make things up to fit their own agenda. She actually takes the time to listen to everything I say instead of cutting me off mid-sentence, and considers it for the next steps we should take. Nothing I say is ignored and forgotten anymore. The wait times are a bit long, but I understand providers don't usually have control over their schedule (AKA they're sometimes overbooked, even without realizing it), and hospitals tend to be short-staffed, so I don't mind the wait. She's worth it."
