"We visited many nursing homes looking for a home for my Dad with advanced Dementia. We could not care for him any longer at home as he required 24 hours a day care and special facilities and equipment we did not have at home. We are very pleased with the care my dad received at Woodbriar Health Center. He was always clean and shaven and comfortable, and the personnel who cared for him were compassionate and patient with him and everyone else they care for. It takes a very special person to care for people with Dementia, and the staff we met at Woodbriar are very special. My dad passed away recently after battling this disease for years, and I would like to thank the staff at Woodbriar for making my dad comfortable thru this end of life experience. We will always be grateful for your efforts and compassion throughout this difficult time. Sincerely, The Anderson Family, North Reading, MA."
"My time spent there was a nightmare. It is unmistakable that their primary concern is to maximize profit and provide the minimum level of care possible in doing so. One example is the food. A typical example would be a supper of a cold wimp grilled cheese sandwich accompanied by a few tater tops. I experienced the head of Nursing verbally berating a worker in a loud and angry tone because she was caught looking at her cell phone for another job. They were always short-staffed and you could ring for assistance for an hour without a response. Stay away from this place. It is laughable to read some of the positive reviews. I have to believe that the management of this place put these things on there. The positive reviews can be nothing but lies"
"Do you think you would be unable to communicate and like your foot stuffed into your sneakers while wearing your nonskid hospital socks, making marks in your feet and have a family member discover it? Would you like to be cold, have a closet full of sweaters and have no one bother to put one on you? Would like like to be served your food 20 minutes late and then have it taken away because the patient sitting next to you keeps grabbing things and there is no one to watch them because the facility has decided to have the aids get the plate from a heat cart and serve patients instead of watching you. Would you feel safe leaving your mother in a facility that leaves a room full of patients alone because they have to transfer patients and no supervision left behind? Would you like to have other peoples clothes put on your mother. Her clothes are labeled! She has plenty. Would you feel good leaving your mother in a facility that has had three outbreaks of scabies in less than two years and they still put clothes not hers into her closet! Would you like to find dirty Depends in her bureau drawer? She is wheelchair bound. They can't blame her! Would you feel good about having her in a place that has a complete turnover in staff (with 3 or 4 exceptions) in less than 3 years? Think maybe there are issues?......they think not! Would you like to die with dignity? Don't put anyone you love here. My heart is breaking and I cannot do a thing about it...........Just thought I would update my review. Nearly everytime I visit my Mom, I notice little to no supervision or help in the dining room. I have gone to the director over and over again to report and nothing ever seems to change. Yesterday, there was one nurse in their great room and no attendants and multiple patients alone in the dining room at lunch time. It took three times reporting that my Mom needed to be checked for a cough they claimed they hadn't noticed. It took two calls to get them to start giving her the cough medicine that was ordered for her. There is a standing agreement with the hair salon for my Moms hair to be cut once a month. It had reached a point that I called, left a note and asked the staff to put a slip in to get it done. Nearly two weeks just to get a hair cut. Think things have changed? NOT No activities staff has been there in the AM on my last three visits. Heard their hours have also been cut. There is a room full of patients sleeping in their chairs, heads hanging down, game shows that they don't understand on the television and no one interacting with them. My heart breaks that this is how my Mom is living her last days. Still a one star in my book."
"It has been a pleasure to be at a wonderful facility which I have been receiving great quality care. Therapist and I have been working hard to reach my goal and get me home safely. I have met some amazing, hardworking people who enjoy helping others. Being in a facility is no fun to say the least but having a concierge come in with a cheerful persona and constant smile, it has been uplifting and has made my stay that much better. Nurses and nursing assistants have been here for me the whole way and encourage me to do my best at whatever task I have in front of me. Everyone I have encountered with is a great asset to this facility. If I need be to come to a rehab facility Woodbriar would be my first choice from experience."
"I currently work at woodbriar, I feel as though whoever is publishing all these stories are only putting one side of the story or stories out there . I've been working there since November and I can honestly say the residents are loved ànd cared for by the staff the same way we would care for our own loved ones, I think it's unfair for those of us who do work there to be looked at in the way that these stories are putting us out there, I do love working there and feel that for the most part the residents that live there are happy ,clean and safe, I wish the people putting the stories in the paper would actually come spend time with us so you can see just how much these res are loved"
