North Attleboro National Fish Hatchery
About the Business
Welcome to the North Attleboro National Fish Hatchery, a vital hub for conservation and recreation located in North Attleborough, Massachusetts. Spanning 235 acres, our facility is a proud part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, dedicated to protecting and restoring the delicate balance of New England's aquatic ecosystems.
Our hatchery plays a pivotal role in the restoration of American shad and brook trout along the Atlantic coast, contributing to the preservation of these iconic species. Through our collaboration with state partners, we also provide hatchery-raised fish for local recreational fishing programs and events, enriching the community's outdoor experiences.
Established in 1970, the National Broodstock Program at our hatchery supplies approximately 60 million fish eggs annually, supporting sustainable fisheries across the nation. Our American shad propagation efforts began in 2006, and since then, we have successfully introduced shad to rivers such as the Charles, Pawcatuck, Pawtuxet, and Taunton.
At the North Attleboro National Fish Hatchery, we are committed to working with partners and the public to conserve, protect, and enhance our nation's fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. Join us in our mission to ensure the enduring benefit of these natural treasures for future generations. Visit us to learn more about our conservation efforts and enjoy the natural beauty of our park.

"There is a beautiful short trail around a pond. It is nice to take a walk. But, if it rained, some part of the trail can become muddy. Also, please note the trail is open on Mondays through Saturdays only."
