About the Business
Welcome to Kamon Farm: A Sanctuary of Nature and History
Nestled along Pineswamp Road in Ipswich, Massachusetts, Kamon Farm offers a serene escape into nature’s bounty. This remarkable park invites you to explore its open fields, wooded uplands, and low-lying wetlands, which host a rich diversity of wildlife and provide breathtaking views. The farm's network of hiking trails seamlessly connects to the Turkey Hill Conservation Area, offering adventurers extended pathways through conserved lands.
Spanning both sides of Pineswamp Road, Kamon Farm plays a crucial role in safeguarding vital drinking water supplies, bridging two significant watersheds. To the north, groundwater nourishes the Bull Brook Reservoir in the Parker River watershed, while to the south, water flows to the Mile Lane Wells in the Ipswich River watershed. This land continues to support agriculture through haying, aligning with sustainable water supply practices.
History whispers through the trails of Kamon Farm, where Indigenous peoples gathered as far back as 14,000 years ago for cooperative caribou hunting. Artifacts from these early inhabitants are preserved at the Harvard Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, offering a window into the past.
The farm's legacy is enriched by the Kamon family, with roots tracing back to Simon and Agnes Kamon, Polish immigrants who established a thriving dairy operation here in the early 1900s. In 2021, Dianne Kamon Perry and her husband, Bob, entrusted the land to Greenbelt, ensuring its perpetual protection. This conservation victory was made possible through collaboration with the Town of Ipswich and support from various funding sources, including the Ipswich Open Space Bond Program and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts LAND Grant Program.
Visitors are invited to embark on a journey from Ipswich’s downtown, traveling 1.5 miles along Linebrook Road before turning left onto Pineswamp Road. Just over a mile ahead, Kamon Farm awaits on your right, ready to share its natural beauty and historical significance with all who wander its trails.
We extend our gratitude to photographers Jerry Monkman, Dorothy Monnelly, Adrian Scholes, David Alden St. Pierre, and Neil Ungerleider, whose stunning visuals capture the essence of Kamon Farm on our website.
