Reviews
"Nice place with friendly staff and with a beautiful clean restroom. A lot of interesting information about Walden and Thoreau. Interactive exhibition. Highly recommended"
"After a walk around the pond 1.7 miles I get to stop in to the Society Shop at Walden and get a cold drink, browse thru the books and spend a few minutes with the folks behind the counter. A great place, very warm people. Thanks for being there!"
"Let me preface by stating that I love Walden Pond with all my heart, which is why it makes me so sad to have to write this review. The elderly woman cashier with grey hair was very rude to one of the customers in the store, snarking at the woman to not take any photographs and to buy the prints instead, “why don’t you buy the prints instead of taking pictures of them?”, the whole confrontation was uncomfortable. If you run a shop and put things on display you’re gonna have to deal with people photographing your stuff. It was evident that she was uninterested in being service minded or even remotely friendly. I get that everyone can have a bad day, but if you work in a shop at least ACT like you’re interested in being there. To my great disappointment the shop’s selection was comparatively limited and focused a great deal on Thoreau instead of the Pond itself. Overall this shop sells short of what it could be. Come on guys."
"This is an amazing bookshop at the Walden Pond visitors center. It's run and curated by the Thoreau Society, so the selection is expertly tailored to the site specifically and to Thoreau, Emerson, and the transcendentalists in general. The shop clerk when I was there was helpful, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He recommended one of the books to me, which I purchased on his recommendation."
"This was my very first time ever coming to Walden Pond & The Replica house of Henry David Thorau, originally back in high school my English teacher tryed so hard for us to go & the English department to go to Walden Pond & The Replica house of Henry David. My English 102 professor at QCC ( Professor "Marjorie Pechet") was so extremely lucky to have planned this amazing event/ trip to see all that , we also, went to Louisa May Alcott House tour. Such amazing trip/ day. I hopefully someday will ho to see the Emerson house & see where the ( actual) home of the famous Henry David Thorau lived. This gift shop was so beautiful inside. I did get some amazing post cards with famous quotes of Henry David Thorau & a maget as well to go on my magnetic board of all the places I've been to over the yrs ."
