"Lynn Fire Dept responded to a 911 call a few weeks back that I was told to make on behalf of my mom. Paramedics/firefighters came to the house quickly with multiple trucks and everyone that entered the house treated my mom with exceptional care except for one person. We had two or three great men come in first and I will never forget watching them sit my mom down in the chair to ask her questions and check her out while holding her hands. It was really nice of them to do because she is so thin, frail, and in poor health. I could tell my mom felt comfortable with them being around. More people came in and got right to business. It truly felt like she was being taken care of. So many people helped, probably 6-7 men and women. I want to sincerely thank everyone that helped her and brought her to the hospital because without it, we wouldn't have discovered her heart failure. Thanks to you guys! :) The last person that came in was one of the fire lieutenants. My fiance said he showed up in his own fire truck and everything. This was a hurtful moment for me so I decided to share it-- he talked to me before talking to anyone else and asked for the rundown of what was going on. At the very end of explaining what was going on and why we called, why they were here etc, he still had the nerve to ask "....but why'd you call?" with his face & hands gesturing that my mom wasn't important enough for him that day. What kind of question is that and why did he think it was ok in that moment? If this was just like any other day, I would not have called. Before the question, he tried to insinuate it was her medication and nothing more as if I didn't already take that into consideration before calling (but I fully knew it wasn't that- the hospital trip confirmed it wasn't). Once he said what he said, I became completely aware this was annoyance on his end. If my fiance didn't walk by at the right time to chime in, you probably would have made another remark subtly letting me know this wasn't worth your time just because you can. Fine, but I suggest learning a better way of communicating your personal preferences when people call for help. Always a better way to do it and that was just not it. I sat on wondering if this review was worth my own time and effort for a while but because of the awesome care that she received from the people that actually talked to her that day, I decided it definitely is worth the review. Thanks again to those that helped out."
