"I had read that the Rumney Marsh Burying Ground had many historical and beautifully carved grave stones. I had driven up from Rhode Island to see the Burying Ground only to find that the gate was locked. I felt bad about climbing over the gate, but I am a person who loves and respects the quality and variety of historic grave stones so over the wall I went. If you are planning on driving 2 hours north to see this burial ground, be sure to contact the Revere police department before you get there to arrange to have it opened for you. You will not be disappointed because this burial ground is one of the best maintained burial grounds in Mass. Every town or city in Mass had different stone carvers and as you travel around the state you will notice a lot of different grave stone carving styles. Many stones are covered with moss but these stones were beautifully preserved. It is obvious that people of Revere love their history and this burial ground.."
"Beautiful , extremly historic, federally recognized and monitered. This is a key to Bostonian, Revere, and United States history"
"I am 57 yrs old & when I was a child, going to A. Lincoln school I was given a art project by my wonderful art teacher to take rubbings of the headstones of this ( then) long forgotten burial ground. I went w/ my father who told me stories of when he was a child & would look for arrow heads around the land , when there was no wall around the burial ground. I remember how bad I felt , even as a child that these people had been sort of forgotten! The place was over grown & headstones broken. I've moved from the area over 40 yrs ago & never forgot Rumney. Marsh! I was spiritual so happy to hear it had been remembered & given the respect it deserved. God bless the people who gave of themselves physically & financially to make this happen!! The historical importance of this site is still alive!!"
