About the ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF SOUTH SHORE
Welcome to the Islamic Society of South Shore (IS3), a vibrant mosque and community hub located at 500 Forest Avenue, Brockton, Massachusetts. Asalam aleykum—peace be upon you all. With gratitude to Allah SWT and the generous support of our donors, we are proud to announce the acquisition of our new building. While this marks a significant milestone, there is still much work to be done to make this space fully operational for our community's needs. We warmly invite past supporters and new friends alike to join us in this ongoing journey.
The Islamic Society of South Shore is dedicated to integrating communities through faith and service. We are committed to fostering a welcoming environment for all, while promoting the core teachings of Islam—a monotheistic faith that has been followed by prophets including Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (P.B.U.H). Central to our beliefs are the Five Pillars of Islam, which guide the spiritual and moral framework of our lives.
The First Pillar, Shahadah, is the declaration of faith, affirming that "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger." This profound statement is the essence of our belief and is recited during our daily prayers.
Prayer, or Salat, the Second Pillar, is performed five times a day facing Mecca, reminding us of our connection to Allah throughout the day. The call to prayer, Azan, invites us to pause and realign our lives with divine purpose.
Charity, or Zakat, is the Third Pillar, requiring Muslims to contribute 2.5% of their wealth annually to benefit those in need, fostering self-discipline and generosity.
The Fourth Pillar, Sawm, involves fasting during the holy month of Ramadan. This sacred time commemorates the revelation of the Quran to Muhammad and cultivates self-control and gratitude.
The final pillar, Hajj, is the pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied Muslim must undertake at least once in their lifetime, symbolizing unity and spiritual renewal.
At IS3, we strive to embody these principles and serve as a beacon of faith, education, and community service. We invite you to visit us at our new location and become part of our growing family. Whether you are seeking spiritual guidance, community support, or simply a place to pray, you will find a warm welcome at the Islamic Society of South Shore.

Reviews of ISLAMIC SOCIETY OF SOUTH SHORE
"Witnessed a sister being treated poorly by another. Imam was made aware and did nothing to address the specific situation except to tell a story to try to enlighten everyone and lift the spirits. While this is one was to approach the situation, I feel it could have been handled on a more personal level to make sure there was resolve between the parties. They were dealing with a flooded basement so that may have led to the short tempers and lack of empathy. On the up side it seems like a tight knit community."
"Went here during Ramadan to pay sadaqa and contribute to/experience iftar at a mosque other than my local masjid. Watched as one of the sisters berated and embarrassed my friend in front of everyone about something that had literally nothing to do with her. I understand that each mosque has different practices in place for different reasons, but as visitors we cant be expected to know all the rules of this specific masjid... When my friend approached the Eman about it, he took little action even when said sister decided to insert herself once again and explain away her hostility. As Muslims during Ramadan, we are supposed to be working on our deen, not creating an atmosphere of contempt and hostility.Do better...be better...we may not always get a second chance. Super disappointed with my experience...hoping that this was a one off situation."
"It was one of the best mosques in Massachusetts, in terms of all the preparations for the comfort and service of the worshipers, as well as a selection of the best brothers who managed this mosque, and they were rewarded by God."
"Addressing the review mentioning this masjid’s alleged prejudice towards white people; a significant proportion of the Muslim children and young women there are alumni of UTOPIA, a former camp program aimed at Muslim youth. The girls’ and children’s art league were led by two white converted Muslims, who were welcomed and ingratiated into the community. They share positive connections with the runners of this mosque to this day. The mosque is new and so is its interaction with converts, but I highly doubt that the predominantly non-Muslim population is completely unwelcome. The mosque is clean, the volunteers polite and kind. The only criticism is at times the place seems carry more work than it can handle."
"The Islamic Center of South Shore is an exemplary community hub. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the facility is impeccably maintained. The staff is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely hospitable, creating a sense of belonging. The center provides a variety of valuable services and educational activities, fostering a strong sense of community among its members. It's a place where spirituality and fellowship beautifully converge, making it a cherished resource for the local Muslim community."
