About Us

Welcome to Wellesley Park
Located at 25 Wellesley Park in the vibrant city of Boston, Massachusetts, Wellesley Park is a cherished part of the community and a proud member of Boston's extensive network of green spaces. As part of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, we are dedicated to creating and maintaining clean, green, safe, and accessible open spaces for everyone to enjoy.
With responsibility for 217 city parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, and a remarkable array of natural and recreational resources, our department ensures that Boston's 2,300 acres of parkland remain beautiful and inviting. This includes two golf courses, 65 squares, 17 fountains, 75 game courts, and an impressive collection of historic and active cemeteries. Additionally, we care for approximately 125,000 trees, including over 35,000 street trees, all contributing to the lush urban canopy of Boston.
Amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adapted by holding our Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings online, ensuring continued community engagement and transparency.
This summer, we invite you to explore the Boston Parks and Recreation Department's complete schedule of free events and activities, perfect for all ages. Enjoy free family-favorite movies in your neighborhood parks, or immerse yourself in the vibrant sounds of the six-concert Tito Puente Latin Music Series, returning to Boston parks in July and August.
In collaboration with Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation, we are excited to present Alianza, a groundbreaking traveling beer garden, bringing together communities across Boston.
Discover the beauty and history within the 1,100-acre chain of nine parks known as the Emerald Necklace, linked by picturesque parkways and waterways. Whether you're exploring our scenic landscapes or participating in our dynamic community events, Wellesley Park and the broader Boston park system offer something for everyone.
Come and be a part of our thriving community at Wellesley Park, where nature, recreation, and community spirit come together in perfect harmony.
