Our department oversees more than 2,300 acres of parkland throughout Boston, including 217 city parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields. We are proud to be the custodians of Boston's rich natural and cultural heritage, which includes the historic Emerald Necklace, urban wilds, and numerous historic cemeteries.

In collaboration with local businesses like Roundhead Brewing Company and Fresh Food Generation, we bring innovative experiences to our parks, such as Alianza, the first-of-its-kind traveling beer garden in the City of Boston.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our Tree Removal and Parks and Recreation Commission hearings are held online, ensuring the community's safety while maintaining transparency in our operations.
