"It's a plaque on the side of a bridge."
"Very interesting small plaque near the beginning of the bridge near the pedestrian ramps. It's only about 3 feet off the ground. Most people will probably miss it. Very cool history in this area."
"Situated just a smoot or two from the ramp on the Boston side of the Harvard bridge, the Houdini plaque is a delightful, understated memorial to one of the greatest magicians of all time. Undoubtedly one of Boston’s most romantic spots. Incredible texture."
"Good meet up spot - lots of joke opportunities if you’re running late or don’t show (think disappearing act). Plaque is interesting and informative, but easy to miss if you’re more than 4 ft tall."
"On May 1, 1908, magician Harry Houdini performed a daring escape act by being locked up in chains and taking a 30-foot plunge into the Charles River from the Harvard Bridge as a way to promote his upcoming performances at Keith's Theater. Before the jump, Houdini was shackled by a Boston patrolman with his hands handcuffed behind his back and chained to a collar around his neck. Despite the risk involved, Houdini successfully freed himself and resurfaced 40 seconds later, holding the shackles in his hands. The event was witnessed by an estimated 20,000 spectators, including the mayors of Boston and Cambridge. This plaque commemorating the feat is located on the Boston side of the Harvard Bridge and was commissioned by Boston's chapter of the Society of American Magicians."
