"I was pretty surprised to find that the people who run this church ( "Who am I? I'm the one who runs this church!" ) are rude, entitled, and self important I discovered this surprising information when a couple of the staff jumped in front of a line of people patiently waiting for a covid test In response to my daring to question him this delightful person told me he "could uninvite" me from getting tested I can honestly say you learn something every day"
"Several years ago, I didn't have enough money to buy groceries. I went to St. John the Evangelist Church, and even though I was not a member or a regular attendee, they assisted me with Gift Cards to local grocery stores. I went there recently to donate $100.00 to the church and give back. I just finished my first year of full-time employment at my job. I am excited to be able to give back. I know there are many people who are facing financial difficulties at this time and struggling to put food on the table. I am happy to help."
"Compassionate, welcoming, empathetic, and with beautiful music to boot! I'm so glad we found this church! Will update with more detail after we've been registered parishioners for a while."
"Absolutely Beautiful Church. Good lower level for dining. Nice bathroom on main level but did not see one for lower of dining area. There could be one. For the occasion I attended, too many cars for parking lot."
"The beautiful church bells ring about twice an hour or so, for as long as I can remember. Even as a young child but being around Cambridge so much it's hard to even realize it unless you go away for a while and then you realize what a nostalgic Chime it is and such a connection to the neighborhood since everybody hears them. Although you don't really "hear" them when you're here all the time because it just becomes second nature. Like I said you're going to appreciate them after you move away and return like I have or go away for a while. Its nice to hear such a beautiful musical sound that has been dependably ringing more than hourly for generations or at least alot of decades and brings a kind of unity of the entire neighborhood knowing the chimes that are so "home sweet home" to me are being heard by everyone else I the neighborhood weather it brings them the same meaning or another. Like college students may appreciate it on a different level than those born and raised cambridgians. And thsoe who work in Cambridge may hate the familiar sounds if it reminds them of having to go to work. Etc. These church bells may hold a different significance to each depending on what the city means to each. Either way, powerful nostalgic sound that has been reliable for Soo long."
