"The pandemic confirmed the process of my leaving this organization and the field. Expensive to go when institutions often won’t give financial assistance. The conferences are likely very significant to those in management and admin roles in larger museums. Many if not most sessions are geared that way, intentionally or no. So, if you’re front facing and not managing anything in a smaller museum, there is little relevance to you. In terms of networking, you probably will not make strong connections with colleagues at other museums, if you're not already part of the long-standing groups. A problem with the field as a whole. Worse, unlike conferences run by other organizations, there wasn't a way to opt out of vendor communications."
"This place is part of the problem. I used to attend their yearly conference from another museum and the last day when they present awards they gave all the awards to directors and the higher ups at other organizations. What a joke! No one who does the real hard day to day work interfacing with the public is ever recognized for their efforts. Skip this organization."
