About the Business
Welcome to Veterans Memorial Park in Belmont, Massachusetts
Nestled in the heart of Belmont, Massachusetts, Veterans Memorial Park offers a serene and picturesque setting for reflection and remembrance. Located at Clay Pit Pond, this historic park is home to the Belmont Veterans Memorial, a distinguished landmark designed by Loring Underwood and dedicated on May 10, 1940, as a gift from the American Legion to the Town of Belmont.
The centerpiece of the park is a 60-foot flagpole, proudly displaying the American flag, surrounded by artistic stonework that enhances the beauty of the landscape. A bronze plaque at the base of the flagpole honors the brave citizens of Belmont who have served in our nation's wars, ensuring their sacrifices are remembered for generations to come.
In 2017, the Belmont Veterans Memorial underwent a comprehensive restoration and enhancement project to preserve its historical significance and honor all Belmont veterans, past, present, and future. The restoration included repairing the monument's structure, replacing the flagpole, and installing a new plaque. Additionally, individual monument stones were added for each of our nation's conflicts since the founding of Belmont in 1859, with space reserved for future conflicts.
Visitors can also find engraved pavers dedicated to individual service men and women, benches for quiet contemplation, and ADA-compliant pathways that welcome everyone to explore the memorial grounds. The park provides a tranquil setting for families, friends, and community members to gather, reflect, and pay tribute to those who have served.
We invite you to visit Veterans Memorial Park, a place that not only commemorates our servicemen and women but also educates future generations about the importance of service and sacrifice. If you'd like to contribute to the ongoing preservation and enhancement efforts, please consider donating to the Belmont Veterans Memorial Fund. The Belmont Veterans Memorial Committee, Inc. is a public charity, and all donations are fully tax-deductible under IRC Section 501(c)(3).
Join us in honoring our veterans and ensuring their legacy continues to inspire and educate for years to come.

"A green break, as its name suggests, it is a place where everything is regulated like the army. Clean and quiet."
